In this piece we take a closer look at the best shooters from Saturday’s action.
Braeden Davidson, Crean Lutheran
A lot of noise is made about another freshman at Crean Lutheran – Kaden Bailey – and rightfully so, but Davidson took the opportunity of being on this stage and made the most of it. The 6-foot-2, class of 2026 prospect got hot from three-point range and went on to knock down five of them as Crean Lutheran defeated Oak Hills. It’s clear Davidson has a ton of confidence in his shooting ability and has the blessing of the coaching staff to let them fly.
Josh Goodall Josh Goodall 6'5" | SF Anaheim Canyon | 2024 State CA-S , Anaheim Canyon
The 6-foot-6 forward, who, along with his twin brother Jaden, is one of the top junior prospects in Orange County, showed that he can step out to the three-point line and do some damage when guarded by a bigger defender. Goodall knocked down three 3-pointers as Canyon picked up an impressive victory against Rancho Verde and all three of them came in crucial moments during a second half comeback attempt by the Mustangs.
Jaden Karluetwa, Village Christian
Karluetwa falls into the category of unknown to known based on his performance at the Titan Turkey Shootout. The 6-foot-5 junior wing is a smooth and fluid athlete that flows right into his shooting stroke from deep. Karluetwa knocked down six three-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points in Village Christian’s 60-50 win over Los Osos.
Matthew Mendias, Norco
Mendias is the type of player we love to come across at these showcase events. The sophomore goes to a smaller public school and doesn’t get as much publicity as other players in his area, but when the right people are in the gym he played well. The 6-foot-2 point guard showed an exceptional basketball IQ and playmaking ability for teammates, but also provided the perimeter shooting ability needed for Norco to hang tough in a two-point overtime loss to Rolling Hills Prep.
Nate Bowden, Hillcrest
Bowden sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when talking about Hillcrest players as Minnesota-commit Dennis Evans Dennis Evans 7'1" | C Hillcrest | 2023 State #28 Nation CA-S and sophomore guard McKel Shedrick McKel Shedrick 6'3" | SG Hillcrest | 2025 State CA-S get a lot of the pub but the 5-foot-10 class of 2025 guard made sure to put everyone on notice that he’s a player to watch too. Bowden knocked down four three-pointers en route to 16 points as the Trojans lost a close one to a good Colony team.
