Prep Hoops Preseason Predictions:
Oceanside Collegiate – The Landsharks dropped down a classification and look for them to make some noise this season in Class 2A. The Landsharks have a lot of depth on this year’s roster.
Academic Magnet – Can the Raptors catch the Landsharks? Walker Bauknight Walker Bauknight 6'7" | PF Academic Magnet | 2023 State SC needs to have a big season.
Bishop England – Who will lead the Battling Bishops this season after going (14-13) a season ago?
Lake Marion HS – The Gators were just (4-11) last season.
Timberland HS – The Wolves finished (11-14) last season.
Stevens is a nice sized wing player for the Landsharks. Malachi can knockdown perimeter jumpers or look to stalk the baseline and finish it with a flush from time to time. He really seems to excel at times in the transition and open floor game. Malachi averaged 14 ppg last season for the Landsharks. He ran on the Grassroots Circuit this past season with TMP ‘ last=”].
Stevens will share honors as CO-Prep Hoops Region Player of the Year with teammate Makhi Rivers Makhi Rivers 5’10” | PG Oceanside Collegiate | 2023 State SC .
Rivers is back to run the show for the Landsharks from the lead guard spot. Makhi is a crafty and savvy point guard who really does a good job of touching the paint. Makhi is best suited as a pass first point guard and bringing some chaos at times on the defensive end. Rivers averaged 11.2 ppg last season for the Landsharks (20-7).
Rivers and teammate Malachi Stevens Malachi Stevens 6’4″ | SF Oceanside Collegiate | 2023 State SC will share honors as CO-Prep Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year this season.
Davinroy looks to be ready to play after recently being clear according to Landsharks Head Coach Quinton Hollis. Calvin made the move down the road to OCA from Wando HS where he averaged 14 ppg and 5.1 rebounds last year for the Warriors. Davinroy gives you the ability to score the ball from 3 levels on the floor. He will be a great addition to a already very talented Landsharks squad.
Coleman is the one the player who has made great strides with his game and body over the past year. Justin could be a mismatch guy at times with his play and versatility to run the floor and fill the lane. Coleman can finish over bigger post players and in return can defend them down low also in the paint. Justin can bully you down low at times and really shows to have a soft touch around the rim. He recently has expanded his game to the perimeter with his ability to knockdown the 3-ball.
Regan really came on strong this Grassroots season with Lowcountry Strom with his play. Will be a great piece for the Landsharks and an absolute zone buster on the perimeter. He really brings a good attitude and effort every time he touches the floor for OCA.
Bauknight is still bit of a mystery for us here at Prep Hoops. It has been a while since we seen him play for the Raptors. Can Walker supply all the offensive punch for the Raptors to make a push at the Landsharks? Walker averaged 15.5 ppg and 6.5 rebounds last season.
