This past week PH NorCal was able to get out to a couple multi-team scrimmages before the preseason, non-league and showcases begin. Our emphasis was on Nov13 through the 18th. There will be plenty of showcases, and tournaments starting after Thanksgiving. Here are some standouts from scrimmage week.

Tariq Weiser 6'3 2023 Combo Guard of Bellarmine College Prep HS. The experienced guard is set to lead the Bells this season. He'll put points on the board in a variety of ways. He has good speed and plays under control making his moves towards the basket, at which he can go either way to finish through contact. He can score off the dribble mid-range or knock down 3's if open.

[player_tooltip player_id='1254105' first='Drew' last='Dorwin'] 6'1 2023 Combo Guard of Half Moon Bay HS. The energetic Dorwin never stops moving, whether he's handling the ball or receiving a pass, he always seems to be in attack mode. He runs hard filling lanes to finish in transition. He's a strong body that can handle the physical parts of the game. He sees the court to deliver solid passes when he's up top running the teams offense. He'll hit mid-range jumpers on the dime and long 3's when in rhythm.

Gabriel Enyinwa 6'6 2024 W/F of St. Joseph Notre Dame HS. He has good size, long arms and moves pretty well from the point of attack. His skills can use some sharpening. He showed us enough at the scrimmage to know he'll be one of the main contributors on this team. His long strides, and lengthy arms off the dribble puts him right at the rim. He has the bounce, to score, and rebound inside. He hit a couple of 3's.

[player_tooltip player_id='1119284' first='Marcus' last='Washington'] 6'6 2024 W/F of Valley Christian, San Jose. His lengthy arms, and timing around the basket makes him a reliable point getter, shot changer, and rebounder. He had a spin move off the dribble that produced a few buckets. He did a good job of rebounding, running the court, and filling lanes, he was on the receiving end of multiple transition baskets. He finished with 15pts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264616' first='Nolan' last='Koch'] 6'5 2024 Forward of Los Gatos HS. He's a physical player that had good finishing moves around the basket including a couple of reverses for buckets. He doesn't mind mixing it up in the paint on both ends. We think he'll generate most of his points in the paint this season, though he did hit a 3 from the top, and in the corner. He'll rebounds, and can make free throws. He finished with 17pts

Jorell Clark 6'1 2025 Guard of Palo Alto. He's a well conditioned athlete still sharpening his tools for the basketball court. He has a good upside and will probably grow a few more inches. He's long and fast in transition. He has the long arms, and quick hands to generate lay-ups from steals on the defensive side of the ball. He has the range to shoot 3's, his dribble will get him into the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264609' first='Julian' last='Gospich'] 6'6 2024 Forward of Bellarmine College Prep HS. His long arms extend out away from his body to take up passing lanes, get to loose balls, and go after rebounds for put-backs. He's a smart player, with some tools to work with. A wide low post stance, a paint jumper works for him. He passes well from the high post, finding cutters, and shooters along the perimeter.

Kyle McDowell 6'4 W/F of St. Joseph of Notre Dame HS. At 6'4 maybe, he's probably going to get a lot of second chance points the way plays inside. He's thick, strong, plays physical and with good effort going after rebounds on both ends of the court. His determination and hard work makes up for his lack of size in the post. He has good balance and powers it up off two feet in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1114849' first='Kenny' last='Harper'] 6'4 2023 Guard/Forward of Valley Christian, San Jose. It's a scrimmage, he came off the bench playing hard, and aggressive going after rebounds, and defending his position. He did a good job of pushing, and passing the ball ahead after rebounding for transition lay-ups.

Max Houghton 6'2 2023 CG of Los Gatos HS. He's a versatile guard with good foot speed going up and down the court. He drew multiple fouls with his hard drive spin moves with a bit of a lean in, to the basket which led to free throws. He delivered key baskets, and free throws down the stretch to help secure the lead in this competitive contest. he finished with 11pts.
