All-State 9AA
Football record: 7-3. This athletic WR caught 63 passes for 839 yards and 12 TD’s. Maddox also rushed for 305 yards and 3 TD’s. In hoops, Kihne helped FAM get to the State Tourney in the previous season. Maddox has improved his basketball game in a large way this past year. Expect a high quality season of hoops from Maddox and for him to put up some noteworthy stats.
Highlights
Football record: 10-1. As a TE, Carson recorded 395 receiving yards and 8 TD’s. Griffith was also tough as a run blocker. In hoops, Carson is an all-around contributor that can do damage inside with his size. He can also produce from the outside with J’s. Look for Griffith to be a game changer in the paint when it comes to rebounding and rim protecting. The Elks have a nice looking team!
Football record: 10-1. As a QB, he threw 29 TD’s and for more yards than most of us could count. Ryan was also a major threat running the ball. He went for 1,458 yards and 20 TD’s. Last season in hoops, Krog averaged 12.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.9 spg, and shot an impressive 31.9 3FG% and 75.9 FT%. Ryan and the Elks are primed to have a big season and they will likely surprise some people. Krog is going to have a fantastic season.
Honorable Mention 9AA
Football record: 9-2. He and the Chargers had a great football season and the basketball squad is looking fantastic as well. Evan, averaged 9.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.2 apg last season. Hamlin is young but they are loaded with talent and Stormo will be a STUD to keep eyes on. It is going to be a fun year of hoops for the Chargers.
All-State 9A
Football record: 11-1 and 2nd place in 9A. Hunter ran for 1,361 yards and 28 TD’s. He threw for 328 yards and 6 TD’s. On D, Cramer had 63 tackles and 2 INT’s, Hunter is a dynamic player in both football and basketball. In hoops, Cramer is an elite PG that constantly beats defenders with his quickness. Cramer is going to have a wildly impressive year on the hardwood.
Football record: 9-2. Cooper was new to Lyman this year and he had a phenomenal year with 50 catches for 14 TD’s. He was also a game changer player on defense. In hoops, Long is an athlete that can put up points from all over the court. Cooper is a special multisport athlete that will have an impactful winter on the basketball court.
Football record: 3-6. Jovi was a DUDE all fall with 2 rushing TD’s and 10 receiving TD’s. He is an explosive and exciting athlete. On the basketball court, Wolf is a sparkplug and a playmaker. Look for him to have an expanded role this winter and for Mr. Wolf to put up some sweet numbers.
Football record: 8-3. He he is baller on the field and on the court. As a TE, Gilbert caught 61 passes for 1,000+ yards and 12 TD’s. In basketball, Gage is a matchup problem for most teams because of his ability to produce inside and out. With Gilbert’s size, he provides a post presence with rim protecting and rebounding. Gilbert will be a leader on the hardwood and he will put up quality numbers.
Football record: 6-3. Kirwan was a standout on offense and defense for the Warriors. Kirwan ran for 6 TD’s and he caught 6 TD’s. On D, Carson had 22 tackles, recovered a fumble, and picked of 1 pass. It sounds like Kirwan tore his other ACL so he will have to miss the basketball season.
Football record: 7-3. Thu was a dual-threat for the Warriors. He rushed for 3 TD’s, caught 3 TD’s, and he was a stud punt/kick returner. In hoops, Thu is a serious shooting threat that can put up points. Quincy is also a playmaking slasher. I would guess that Thu will start for the Warriors. Castlewood is going to be very good team in Class B once again this season.
Honorable Mention 9A
Football record: 5-5. Tage is a superior athlete and he was a standout as a safety and QB. In basketball, Canistota is going to be a scary squad. Ortman is very explosive on the basketball court and that is a big part of why he is a lockdown defender. He also rebounds very well. O offense, Tage will slash to the bucket for athletic scores. He is a great 2-way player.
Football record: 4-5. Jake had a fantastic fall as a QB/DB for the Dolphins. In basketball, Jorenby is a big-time shooter from beyond the arc. He is a consistent shooter that will keep defenses honest. Look for Jorenby to be a game changer this winter, 3-points at a time!
