NLL Player of the Year + Top Point Guard: Matt Watkins Matt Watkins 6'2" | CG Perrysburg | 2023 State OH – 2023 – 6’2 PG – Perrysburg
I love watching Watkins play. He has great height and size for a point guard. Big and strong kid. Bullies his defenders when he takes it to the rim. He plays the game at an incredible pace and never gets sped up. A super tight handle on the ball. He doesn’t shake you with any moves but he simply gets to his spots. He can shoot it too but he does not need to often because he gets to the rim so well. He also does a great job at getting his teammates involved very well. He does as good of a job as any at running the complex Perrysburg offense. He will lead the Yellow Jackets to be one of the best teams in the area.
Top Guard: Micah Bays Micah Bays 6'2" | CG Sylvania Southview | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’1 G – Southview
Bays is one of a few kids in the NWO area that could end up on Sportscenter Top 10. He has that level of bounce and athleticism. He isn’t the tallest kid in the world but he has the bounce to play above most. He is a very good talent and. a very smooth offensive player that has a good jumper. Gets to his spots well and when he goes all the way to the rim he has some very good touch. He will be asked to do a lot for the Cougars and luckily for them, he can do a lot.
Top Wing: Caden Kruse Caden Kruse 6'6" | PF Napoleon | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’6 W – Napoleon
Kruse is one of the best wings in the NWO area. He is a very big kid and is a freight train on a railroad track when he gets going in transition. The freight train can get up too. He is a very unique athlete in that way. I believe his confidence has taken a leap this summer. He is very confident on the court and plays freely. He has a great shot. He can play on and off the ball. Shoots it well off the dribble and spot-up. He is a hard player to stop from putting points on the board.
Top Forward: Avery Hunt – 2023 – 6’5 W/F – Perrysburg
Hunt is going to be a key player for Perrysburg this year. I like what he brings to the game on the offensive end. He makes almost everything around the rim and is a very good slasher. A strong and athletic player that can guard a lot of positions on the defensive end. He and his twin brother Andrew Hunt will both set the tone and toughness level for the Jackets this year.
Top Forward/Center: Jabari Conway Jabari Conway 6'8" | C Bowling Green | 2023 State OH – 2023 – 6’7 F/C – Bowling Green
Conway is going to be one of, if not the only bright spots for the Bowling Green Bobcats. He is a very big kid and physically the most imposing big in the NLL. He is 6’7 and very big. Super strong and moves people out of the way when making post moves. He has a high motor and attacks the glass all game. He will wear other teams down. He also has a nice midrange touch that makes you step out and respect it. I like Conway’s game.
