As the season gets going we will focus on more players throughout with weekly coverage. Mount Spokane pulled away in the second half after only leading by two at halftime. 64-57 was the final. Here’s some of the players who stood out.
He had himself a good sophomore season last year, and will be on the college radar. He should be. He was excellent in this game. I had him for 20 points. He consistently probed his way through the defense and got layups or finished with a soft floater. He is great at getting to the hoop. He changes speeds extremely well and has great instincts. He is always under control and can finish at the rim with great size for a guard. He finished a full court pass from Maverick Sanders Maverick Sanders 6’5″ | SF Mt Spokane | 2023 State WA , catching it and taking one step for a two handed jam. About the only thing he didn’t do was hit a three. He helped ice the game with 12 4th quarter points, and hit all four of his free throw attempts in the last minutes. He might be the best guard on the east side and is one of the best in the state.
He did his best to keep his team in the game and did for the most part. He had at least 19 points, most of them coming on strong drives to the hoop. He hit a couple of jumpers but most came the way of layups or short floaters after attacking the defense. He is a solid player who will be in the running for Mid-Co player of the year this season. He can shoot it, get himself to the basket, and is an all level scoring guard.

His size and athletic ability will be a huge asset to his team this year. He played well in the paint, bothering shots and rebounding. He had around 10 points as well, including a three and some free throws that he showed a soft shooting touch with. He is long and active, and showed a couple nice moves on the block. He should have a big year this season as a senior and one of the better post players in the Mid-Co conference.
He was active all game long with rebounds, blocks and hustle. He hit a three and showed the ability to put it on the floor for a couple dribbles and get to the bucket, and either finish or get fouled. He did miss a couple of free throws but was a difference maker with his all around inside and outside game.
He didn’t score as much as he usually does but he still affects the game in a variety of ways. He had a couple of monster blocks, and he was a force in the paint rebounding as well. He will give you everything he has in every game and continue to be one of the best big men in the state. He is a great athlete who can really get up and down the floor and make plays on both ends.
