Seeing so many players having the opportunity to play D2 & D1 athletics was exciting. This got me thinking about the future….I came across the 2027 class with 7 magnificent players to look at. I am not saying these players will go D1 or D2 but I am saying that these guys are DUDEs right now and they have loads of potential. See below for our Magnificent 7 North Dakota players in the 2027 class who have been making a name for themselves in the great basketball game!
Magnificent 7
He is extremely athletic! Armstrong already has the body of a high schooler and he can dominate the game with his measurables. Brooks has ability to get to the basket whenever he wants along with being able to stop and pull up mid- range, makes him very hard to guard. Brooks also has the ability to knock down 3’s, this makes him a very solid all-around player.
The Prep Hoops Prospect Rankings are not out for the 2027 class, but Bakko is likely the #1 PG in the 8th-grade class for ND. Brooks will play varsity this season for the mighty Vikings and I expect him to be a difference maker. Bakko is advanced skill wise and he is a smart hooper. He might still be in junior high, but Bakko can handle the rock like a veteran PG. He will make the easy/extra pass, thread needles when needed, and pass teammates open. Brooks is clever about finding the hot hand. He is also a natural scorer that can impact the game from all levels. This young PG is mature beyond his age.
He might have the highest ceiling out of everyone in this article. Kinnebrew is very long and very athletic! At 6’2″, Gibson can play any spot on the floor which makes him a nightmare of a matchup for any team. His ball handling, court vision, unselfishness and leadership make him a great fit to run the point but also has the ability to post up if needed. You have to pick your poison with Kinnebrew! Gibson is also a great defender and he can guard all 5 positions. If he continues to improve his shooting, he has the potential to be one of the greats that come out of North Dakota.
He has always been a tough and lockdown defender. For this class, Bondley might be the best on-ball defender in the State! Hayden has put in a lot of work the past couple of years on his offensive game and is now a key contributor on the offensive end as well. There are not many players around that play as hard as he does on both ends of the floor. Hayden has great upside, especially if he continues to work on his shot.
Expect him to be a serious varsity player this winter! Strandlien has very high upside with his height, build, and mobility. He has an impressive ability to shoot the ball and he can dominate the scoring column. Izaac does not resemble a JH player, he looks and plays like a varsity wing. Strandlien is a beast at getting into the paint, he is constantly putting pressure on the defense. His anticipation and reaction time are proficient as he is a standout on the boards and at creating TO’s. The sky is the limit for Strandlien.
He is physically strong and the young Magician can fill it up in a hurry. Jalen is a very talented shooter and a volume scorer. His shooting stroke is darn near flawless and he is only in 8th grade! Jalen Gunville Jalen Gunville 5’11” | SG Minot | 2027 State ND is a combination of his two older brothers – he is a sniper like the oldest brother Jackson (Minot state) and a defensive stopper like Jaeger (Magi senior). Jalen can lock up and guard anywhere on the court. When Jalen is guarding, it is “no-funville” for opponents! The young Gunville is well on his way to becoming a star in Magic City!
Scott is another very athletic player on the loaded Impact Team! Weston has a non-stop motor and he plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. Scott has the skills to play any spot on the floor and is an animal on the boards. Weston can get to the basket with ease and has the ability to knock down shots from anywhere on the hardwood. Scott has an advanced feel for the game and his athletic stature is more like a sophomore/junior than an 8th grader. This Demon will definitely be one of the best players in ND for years to come.
