This is what they would look like! Once again this is a ranking based on college potential not what their impact will necessarily be this year in high school. This is our Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class!
Today we unveil prospects #16 – #20!
#16 Jason Jakstys Jason Jakstys 6'10" | C Yorkville | 2024 State #141 Nation IL (Yorkville – 2024)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
The Yorkville 6’9” five man is primed to make major noise this high school season after a monster summer with Basketball Paradise. Legit size and skill combination that should have mid-major programs salivating at his potential as a true five man that can shoot, pass, rim run, and score with an array of moves. His best asset might be his shot blocking as he has excellent timing on that end.
#17 Darrion Baker Darrion Baker 6'8" | PF St Rita | 2023 State #227 Nation IL (Hillcrest – 2023)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Baker has slowly moved up the board to where now he is a top 10 prospect in his class. The Akron commit is a new age power forward that brings versatility and athleticism up front. He is a physically imposing threat that is a very good rebounder and can defend multiple positions on that end of the floor.
#18 Miles Rubin Miles Rubin 6'7" | PF Homewood Flossmoor | 2023 State #243 Nation IL (Simeon – 2023)
Last Year’s Rank: #27
Loyola commit is a high-motor power forward that is a pogo stick athlete. He is super quick off the floor excelling on the offensive glass scoring on second chance points along with dump offs out of the dunker position and rim running. Love what he brings defensively being able to switch all over and protect the rim.
#19 Macaleab Rich Macaleab Rich 6'5" | SF East St. Louis | 2023 State #261 Nation IL (East St. Louis – 2023)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
The recent Kansas State commit is a big and strong small forward that had a monster June where he saw his stock solidify as one of the top 10 seniors in the state. Physically imposing threat on the perimeter that can play bully ball right through opponents, score on the block, get second chance points, and is a decent three point shooter. He really shines in the open floor as an explosive finisher! If he wants to lock in on that end has the tools to be a top notch defender!
#20 Phoenix Gill Phoenix Gill 6'3" | SG St. Ignatius | 2025 State #72 Nation IL (St. Ignatius – 2025)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
The son of former NBA player Kendall Gill didn’t play on the grassroots circuit and was held to limited minutes as a freshman, but there is no denying the talent. Long and lanky combo guard is a prospect that can make plays as a distributor and makes it look so effortless with his handles and ability to create his own shot. Chance to be a quality defender with his length and lateral quickness.
