[player_tooltip player_id='1261875' first='Xander' last='Fairbanks'] - Waccamaw HS

Fairbanks really came to play today for the Warriors in the 3rd place game. Xander was able to score the ball inside-out on the floor on his way to putting away 24 points. He generally does his best work around the paint area. Fairbanks today was able to connect on some 8–10-foot jumpers when he wasn't claiming a rebound off the glass for a putback.

[player_tooltip player_id='1465763' first='Maverick' last='Ward'] - Waccamaw HS

Ward finished the night with 20 points in the win. Maverick plays around the rim for the most part and won't overwhelm you with athleticism. He's crafty at times to find ways to score the ball. Ward moved into the area a year back from Greenfield, Massachusetts. Ward was able to manufacture points on effort and putbacks along with some nice head fakes today.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220036' first='Amare' last='Adams'] - Lake City HS

Adams is an absolute LOAD in the paint. Amare has great hands and footwork on the floor and it's understandable why he's a Power 5 Football Recruit. He really looks to work down low by carving out space and posting up for the Panthers. Amare is a very soft-spoken young man who just brings it every time he steps on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1672057' first='Jones' last='Lay'] - Green Sea Floyds HS

Lay and the Trojans have not played much basketball over the past few seasons with the Pandemic going on. Jones 6'8 long and rangy forward could be a late bloomer for sure coming out of Horry County. Jones has a slender frame and a nice touch with his shot. He at times today showed some really good glimpses of a player who hasn't scratched the surface of his potential. Jones father played at North Carolina State back in the 1980's and mom played in college while his sister currently plays volleyball in college at Winthrop. Jones just needs to let it all out and just start to play the game of basketball and see where it could lead him.

The Lake City HS Panthers jumped out to a 24-0 lead before Carvers Bay could get on the board just before the 1st quarter ended. The Panthers will play in Class 3A this coming season with the likes of Lakewood, Marlboro County HS and Crestwood HS all in the same region. The Panthers will rely on some guards in [player_tooltip player_id='1173994' first='Mykel' last='Croker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1174150' first='Bryson' last='Rose'] from the backcourt. Croker sets the table for the Panthers with his deliberate style of play. Croker a baseball player in the spring makes good reads and really knows how to set up his teammates with his crisp passes at times.

Rose is an all-out hustle guy who really looks to defend on the ball. Bryson was able to slash to the cup today and finish on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356316' first='Karon' last='Brown'] is a long and athletic rangy forward for the Panthers. Brown is the ideal rim runner when it comes to covering ground on the hardwood. He plays active in the passing lanes and scores around the cup. Karon does a good job of filling the lane in transition for the Panthers.

The Socastee HS Braves finished the Bulldog Shootout with a 3-0 record heading into action this coming week. The Braves look to have several players who might be able to step-up and lead by committee this coming season. [player_tooltip player_id='1672065' first='Ashton' last='Dupee'] had a good game in the Championship Game vs Andrews HS. Dupee a undersized shooting guard was able to knockdown some shots on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id='1351634' first='Preston' last='Smith'] a left-handed JYD brings toughness and determination to the floor. Preston plays bigger than his size at times around the basket constantly hustles for everything in sight.

[player_tooltip player_id='987980' first='Quadir' last='Scott'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1088706' first='Trae' last='Grant'] are back also on the Braves roster after both playing football this past fall. Scott came back to the Braves after spending the past 2 years at Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach. Scott a high energy left-handed guard was pressed into playing Quarterback this past season. Grant will bring some good minutes to the table this season and leadership for Braves Head Coach Derrick Hilton this season.
