William Paige
It’s rare to find a true three level scorer in the 4th grade who can create, shoot, and finish a play in the lane, the mid-range, and from three-point range but William Paige is that guy. He already has the competitiveness, talent, and skill to play up against older competition by a year or two. This kid shows off his ability to shred a defense off the dribble each time he steps onto the floor while showcasing a wide range of change of pace crossovers and quick low dribbles to the ground. Super aggressive bucket getter with a shaky handle, long limbs, and a good burst of quickness, especially out of his hesitation moves which often gets Paige a step ahead of his man. Around the hoop, William is very clever finisher that can switch it up midair and complete a variety of reverse layups while going through traffic and contact. Paige also has the length to stop, rise up, and shoot on the move over contesting defenders in one-on-one situations. His ceiling is high and his potential is scary, as William Paige continues to develop his footwork to go hand and hand with his scoring talents, I don’t see how any kid his age could possible defend or keep up with his playing speed.
David Ice
David Ice
David Ice is the most intriguing prospect in the entire 2031 class thus far. Standing at 5-foot-6-inches, the ten year old towers over the majority of his opponents by over a foot, not to mention his massive size compared to his contemporaries. This young prospect is physical and loves to utilize his body and strength to his advantage. With his size, skills, and all-around athleticism, Ice is able to make the game look easy at times. David moves like a big guard with and without the ball in his hands, running the middle of the floor in transition and showing strong ball skills and control the rock especially on the dribble drive where Ice has proven to be a runaway freight train coming downhill. His versatility allows him to beat defenders off the bounce and get inside with his right to left between the leg dribble before finishing in the paint with a one-footed floater off the glass displaying good touch and consistency. He’s not afraid to shoot it from beyond the arc when defenders sag off either. Defensively, he’s no slouch, he has length and aggressiveness to stuff shots under the rim, Ice plays with a will to compete, you can even find him sprinting the full length of the floor to protect his basket on fast breaks. Remember this kid’s name, his potential is sky high thanks to his gifted build and athletic abilities, David Ice could possibly be a prospect that becomes one of the most recruited in the nation one day.
Trice Carter
Trice Carter
It is about time Trice Carter gets his respect for being a natural dime dropping point guard. This little floor general touches the paint at a high rate and makes tough layups and passes on nearly a play to play basis. Carter does a phenomenal job of using his impeccable court vision to distribute the ball to his teammates with his eyes and head high at all times always looking to pass ahead or through the defense. Carter plays with an understanding of how to really make his teammates better and set them up with good looks. Very instinctual, incredible change of pace for such a young player, you can see the gears grinding in his head as he sizes his man with quick crossovers looking to get his defender leaning or off balance in search for angles to penetrate or pull-up. His footwork and layup package is beginning to develop in a strong way as well, Carter also has a mean stroke with terrific shooting mechanics for a kid his age and when he’s able to get to his spots around the elbow or the outside wing he’s a nightmare. The Ohio native has the best ball skills out of any player on this list and it shows each time he steps onto the floor. It’s crazy how well polished his dribbling and passing skill set is with both hands, he already has a wide range of throws he can complete instantly off the dribble, such as making accurate down court pass ahead of the defense in transition, dropping push pass dimes through the lane to cutters off the dribble, making bounce passes that lead to points, and no look drive and kicks that hit his teammates right in their shooting pocket.
Terry Holt III
Terry Holt III
Terry Holt III is a nationally known name and a social media sensation with thousands upon thousands of views and followers. Holt is one of the most confident 4th graders you’ll ever see play basketball. The kid is an absolute menace on the court with a gritty and feisty mentality to go along with his hunger and desire to win and destroy his opponent in the process. Good potential as a playmaker and a three-level bucket getter due to his ability to hit long range shots off the dribble from time to time combined with his remarkable knack for getting by defenders and downhill to the rack, which is what really sets him apart from other guards in his class. Terry is constantly showing flashes of greatness in isolation, often seeming unguardable by one man on most occasions. This kid is known to be insanely creative with the rock for a 10 year old, a true ankle breaker that send a defender with bad feet to the floor with his explosive snatch back dribbles and combination crossovers. Fast twitch dribbler, has the ball on a string, and is consistently capable of creating driving angles or separation for his pull-up jumpshot, he sizes up his man with continuous quick crossovers and between the leg bounces before beating them with an burst of speed in his first step for the blow-by. The name Terry Holt will be at the top of most 2031 prospect list for years to comes, as of right now, Holt has the ball skills, basketball IQ, intangibles, and natural instincts to completely dominate and control a game in its entirety.
Zander Pughsley
Zander Pughsley
Zander Pughsley is usually one of, if not the smallest player on the court, but he always plays the biggest while putting on a show and putting point on the board with shots and assists. This little man is as fearless as they come, you got to love his tremendous competitive spirit and basketball IQ. Pughsley has a true talent for controlling the game and determining the outcome with his speed and quickness, he has a knack for beating everyone down the floor and he might just be faster with the ball than without. His strong tight handles standout as he pounds the ball with power and speed. He’s very shifty and quick on his feet with excellent change of direction skills which come in handy for him in transition. Zander attacks the basket with a full head of steam where he shows the wherewithal to protect the ball using overhand dribbles to turn the corner before he cuffs the ball while driving through the congestion for his smooth floater or layup that he make with both left and right hands whether he’s on and off balance. Zander Pughsley simply plays the game the right way, he makes the right passes, he doesn’t over dribble, and he doesn’t get too fancy or take ridiculous shots, Pughsley is all about getting the job done.
