Continue ReadingThe Senior class is about to kick off their final season of high school basketball and many of the best prospects will be signing their letters of intent to their college of choice next month. The class has seen a lot of talent defect from it over the last 9 months or so but it’s still one of the best Kentucky has seen in a while. Here’s a look at the top shooting guards in our updated Senior rankings. This does not include any players ranked in the top 10 in the class.
Jeremiah is a crucial piece of a Lloyd team that has their eyes on a run to Rupp Arena. Israel is super athletic and consistently improving as a jump shooter. He has great length and can be disruptive on defense. He’s already committed to his hometown school of NKU.
McClain has started to rack up offers at the NAIA level and is one of the early front runners for 7th region player of the year. Although he does play off the ball most of the time, Cam is a talented playmaker when he has the ball in his hands. He’s also an above average defender who knows how to guard both on and off the ball.
McCracken intends to get back to Rupp Arena after missing out on a trip last season and McCune and fellow Senior Ian Hart Ian Hart 6’7″ | PF McCracken County | 2023 State KY are likely the best duo in the first region. Jack is a big guard who is comfortable as a catch and shoot threat or putting the ball on the floor and attacking the paint.
Highlights
Carbon is likely to end up signing a football scholarship for college but he’s a beast on the basketball court too. Kenyata is the top returning scorer in the third region and the heavy favorite to be the nominee for Mr Basketball from the area. Owensboro is capable of winning the third and Kenyata can help get them to Rupp with his scoring.
It’s easy to overlook Walkup because Warren Central is so talented but Damarion is a good player who deserves some individual shine. He knows how to maximize his opportunities and is an efficient scorer with 52-37-76 shooting splits and the potential to be a scholarship player on signing day.
