Many of the best players in the country showcased their talents and abilities during the tryout. With around 60 players participating in the minicamp, the leaders of the tryout broke the players into two groups. One group consisted of the 2023-2024 graduating performers, while the second group contained the 2025-2026 athletes. There were a variety of coaches from across the United States at the location to judge and observe the talent throughout the gymnasium. The USA Basketball Committee was extremely excited about the event due to the wealth of star-studded players on hand to prove they belong on the team to represent their country.
After speaking with a few coaches from the mini-camp we were provided a good amount of feedback on the two players from the WPIAL that were invited to participate all weekend. Here at Prep Hoops PA were are extremely proud of these young men and are hopeful they receive an opportunity to play for USA Basketball. This would be a huge accomplishment from players from the Pittsburgh area which could essentially put the region on the map for basketball. Provided the two members of the class of 2025 make the squad, college coaches attending any of their games this year will be impressed even more knowing not only high school or AAU is an important part of their basketball bag.
