While we weren’t able to see all of the teams over the weekend, we got our eyes on most of them, and here are the guards who turned in standout performances.
Isaac Williamson, 2025, Riverside Poly
Williamson is the guy who will show up on the opponent’s scouting report as a shooter – probably in all caps and bolded. But the sophomore combo guard continues to show that he’s more than just a shooter. Williamson uses the dribble to drive by over-aggressive closeouts and can pull-up for a floater or mid-range jumper or get to the basket for a crafty finish.
Jaqari Miles Jaqari Miles 6'2" | CG West Ranch | 2023 State CA-S , 2023, West Ranch
If there’s an award for the best tough shot maker in SoCal, or even the state, Miles would have to be in the conversation. The 6-foot-3 combo guard has deep and consistent three-point range from multiple spots behind the arc and has the freedom to pull early and often within the Wildcats offense. It doesn’t matter if Miles has a defender draped all over him, he can either create space to get a shot off or simply rise up and shoot over the top.
Jayden Teat Jayden Teat 6'3" | CG Capital Christian | 2023 State CA-N , 2023, Capital Christian
Teat should be a name Division 2 and Low Major programs should keep an eye on as he heads into a senior season that could raise his recruiting stock. The 6-foot-3 guard will have the ball in his hands and will be tasked with being the go-to option for Capital Christian. Teat is a physical driver and finisher who can absorb contact and stay on balance en route to the cup. While using his frame and athleticism to get to the rim is his speciality, Teat can also knock down open three-point shots. I think his most value comes as a disruptive and physical on-ball defender.
Jermaine Washington, Jr., 2024, Rancho Verde
Washington remains a sleeper type of prospect whose stock should rise during and after the upcoming season. The 6-foot-1 point guard is a freakish vertical athlete who adds a high level of speed, quickness and physicality to the position, as well. Washington, Jr. is at his best in transition where he uses his speed and explosiveness to get to the rim and finish through or over rim protectors. The junior does have mid-range shot-making ability off the bounce and gets great elevation on his jumper. Washington, Jr. competes on the defensive end and matches the energy and toughness of the rest of his team.
Jon Mani Jon Mani 6'5" | SG Palisades | 2024 #274 Nation CA-S , 2024, Beverly Hills
Mani doesn’t have the regional name as some others that we’ve discussed in this series, but he’s right up there in the conversation with them. The 6-foot-6 junior is a smooth scoring off-guard whose positional size and fluid creativity off the bounce helps him to score in variety of ways. Mani can get by defenders with changes of speed and direction and use his length to extend to the rim for paint finishes and he can also knock down three-point and mid-range jumpers with regularity.
