Andre Walker proved he can be the starting point guard of a winning team notching six three-pointers in the first halfagainst Silsbee in their playoff loss. Chris McDermott Chris McDermott 6'7" | SF Booker T. Washington | 2024 State #159 Nation TX and Kenneth Lewis Kenneth Lewis 6'7" | SF Houston Booker T. Washington | 2023 State #294 Nation TX brought the star power, and Sam Johnson learned quickly how to be a force down low. Head Coach Vincent Grayson can sense his team is so close to a state ring. I stopped by practice on the first day to get an early look at the 4A state favorites
Chris McDermott Chris McDermott 6'7" | SF Booker T. Washington | 2024 State #159 Nation TX – 6’7 Class of 2024
A special rebounder that doesn’t change facial expressions. McDermott is the unstoppable force that gives his opponent nightmares. Gives second effort on the boards, but can score in the post. Have a nice one-leg turn around. He can frustrate his opponents with his motor.
Kenneth Lewis Kenneth Lewis 6'7" | SF Houston Booker T. Washington | 2023 State #294 Nation TX – 6’5 Class of 2023
Lewis is the three-level scorer with full confidence in his game. Plays with an edge to his game. The thing that makes him special is his defense ability. His wingspan makes it difficult for ball handlers to get around. Also crashes board for easy putbacks, and sneaky putback dunks
Samuel Johnson Samuel Johnson 6'7" | C Booker T. Washington | 2025 TX – 6’6 Class of 2025
The Sophomore returns with improve skills. Handling the ball on the perimeter, and making reads. Also his jumpshot have improved overall with confidence growing in his game. You can see him taking on a leadership role this season.
Davion Smith – 5’11 Class of 2023
Smith is the bulldog off the leash for BTW. Have a natural feel for defense. Davion takes pride in locking up his opponent. Offensively can penetrate hard to the rim. He can get by defenders with his quick first step or body frame.
Odis Carter Jr – Class of 2024 5’10
Mr. Carter will earn more respect on his name this year. One piece that missed last year was another point guard that can get his own like Walker. Carter fills the gap with his deep shot making ability off the dribble. Crafty player when he gets around the rim.
Jalen Webb – 5’7 Class of 2025
Webb have the greenlight to shoot. Could possibly be the best shooter one their team this year. He consistently moves without the ball to get open looks. A quick trigger that helps get his shot off on taller opponents.
Kadyn Barnea – 6’5 Class of 2026
Barnes is raw with potential. The impact he’ll provide on defense is valuable with his long frame. Not afraid to guard anybody. With developments Grayson will have another freshman making an impact this season.
