SD 2024 Players Primed to Breakout

-Sioux Valley is a winning program and they took 2nd at State last season. They will come into the season highly ranked and they will have their sights set on State again. SV lost some talented seniors and Hudsyn’s older brother Hayden left some big shoes that need to be filled. The hope is that Hudsyn will step right in and fill that role. He certainly has the toughness and work ethic to do it. I like his size and grit, he has the potential to be a very nice player for SV. Oliver Vincent Oliver Vincent 6'1″ | PG Sioux Valley | 2023 State SD and Alec Squires Alec Squires 6'10″ | C Sioux Valley | 2024 State SD will draw all the attention for the Cossacks this year, Ruesink will get plenty of good looks. -The Bulldogs won it all last season. They will have a good chance at getting back to State and Fast will be a big reason for that. Damon Wilkinson Damon Wilkinson 6'10″ | C De Smet | 2023 State SD will be the main focus for opposing teams, so Kadyn should get single coverage and he will have plenty of chances to produce. Kadyn is a good athlete with quick/fast feet. He will be a great defender this season. He is also a standout in transition that will score many points in up-tempo situations. -It seems like White River gets to State every season and this year should be no different. Dylan Marshall, graduated and Nic should step into the role as the #2 man behind the mighty Joe Sayler Joe Sayler 6'4″ | SG White River | 2023 State #295 Nation SD . The young Marshall had a great AAU season. Marshall is a student of the game and a super-skilled player. He is great and penetrating gaps and creating for others. His ball skills are very impressive and he can make every pass. He is also a smooth scorer that can put up points from all levels. -In the last Power Rankings, PHD had Canistota in the Top 10 and a huge reason for that is Mr. Ortman. This summer in AAU, Tage proved that he is ready to be an upper-echelon player in Class B. Currently, Tage is dominating in football and he is showing everyone that he is an impressive athlete. In hoops, Ortman will be a lockdown defender and a playmaker all over the court. He is explosive to the rim and he can finish in a variety of ways. Expect Tage to be a stat stuffer this winter. -The Cardinals invested their time and energy into basketball this offseason and they played very well. In particular, Maaland had an excellent off-season. He was also killing it in fall league. All this leads me to believe that Maaland will have a monster season. As the main man for Deuel, Trey will have the chance to dominate this season. Maaland can score in a variety of ways and he is a nice athlete. He is also an outstanding defender that will consistently get stops.
