There were several times that he got good position to secure a rebound and put it back in. He also showed the ability to be craft in the paint and score with reverse layups or to use a post move to score around the rim. Between a quick jump, the I.Q to get in position, and the good footwork, he made an impact in this game.
Highlights
Chiante Tramble Chiante Tramble 6’2″ | PG Edmond North | 2024 State OK is 6’2 and is in the class of 2024. Despite his lack of size, he has the competitiveness and motor to make an impact on the glass. It was impressive with all of the areas that he was able to affect. He was no stranger to scoring in the paint or drawing the foul, using his athleticism to help secure rebounds, and knocking down free throws. He flashed the ability to knock down jumpshots and three pointers, too. He was a solid defender in the two games that I saw him play, as well. This is a player that impacted the game in several areas and is intriguing to see how much he develops moving forward.
Labron Wilson Labron Wilson 6’5″ | SF Destiny Christian | 2023 State OK is 6’5 and is in the class of 2023. I had people tell me that he is a guy that has been going under-the-radar going into the event. I have to admit that they are right. He was impressive when I watched him play, showing that he can dominate the glass and carries a passion for the game. It felt like he took as much pride on defense as he did in rebounding and offense. There was one play that I remember and he hustled back in transition and swatted the ball out of bounds. It felt like a statement play. His impact went beyond this block on the defensive end, as he had several great shot contest. One thing that I liked about him is that he would close out on a shooter without fouling. Outside of the defense, it felt like he grabbed most of his team’s rebounds. There were plays that he had a good cut that would result in a dunk or he would drive and draw the foul. He would knock down the free throws at a decent clip. Rebounding, inside scoring, and a solid two-way player is what you get with him. Someone that will hustle and be scrappy inside.
Ja’Carri Barnes
Ja’Carri Barnes
Ja’Carri Barnes is a player that surprised me with his impact in the rebounding. He is only 5’11, but his heart made up for it. He constantly hustled and fought for rebounds, which this, with a high- motor, resulted in him making this list. I was only able to watch him in one game, but he had multiple offensive rebounds, in which he was able to turn into second chance points. During the game, he knocked down a three pointer and finished through contact in transition. He was able to make an impact in multiple areas of this game.
