The five game slate featured players who are already getting recruited to D1 programs, but it also included some sleepers who have a shot at playing in college. Below are six under the radar standouts from Saturday’s event:
Josh Coulanges Josh Coulanges 5'9" | PG Cardinal O'Hara | 2023 State PA | G 2023 Cardinal O’Hara (PA)
In a thriller of a game against Middletown, the senior point guard stood out. Coulanges made the opposing ball-handlers uncomfortable with his effort on defense. Offensively, he lived in the paint with his drive-and-kick game. The same burst that helped him create for others also helped him score all 11 of his points in the second half. Josh got to the cup for lay ups, but he got to the free throw line a few times too.
Amir Cunningham | F 2023 Middletown (DE)
As Middletown got less opportunities in transition and had to settle into their half-court offense, Cunningham stepped up. He was active on the glass, extending possessions with his rebounds. His teammates found him around the basket, where he totaled 8 points. Defensively he blocked two shots and altered others. His movement around the paint limited West Catholic’s shots at the rim.
Marcus Edmunds | G/W 2023 Middletown (DE)
Edmunds’s motor ran hot the entire game, using his athleticism to make splash plays. He got two steals and multiple deflections by shooting gaps on the help-side and the weak side. Offensively, moved well off-ball by cutting and using his strong build to play through contact. His hustle and bounce were especially useful when he had a runway to dunk on the break. Edmunds scored 15 points.
Tariq Jennings | W 2024 West Catholic (PA)
Jennings is improving rapidly and it showed Saturday night against Middletown. His 7 points were the result of him playing hard without the ball. He attacked a closeout with a one-dribble pull up and slid into space for a catch-and-shoot three. Pushing 6’5, Jennings had a bigger impact on the other end. He grabbed two steals, made well-timed rotations, and walled up at the rim. His transition dunk at the end was the icing on the cake.
Quin O’Hara | G 2024 Salesianum (DE)
Short-handed, Sallies called on O’Hara to step up and the junior guard answered. His handle and decision-making were key in them breaking fullcourt pressure. When the defender took away their primary offensive option, Quicker-than-fast, Quinn got two feet in the paint where he scored 12 points on tough lay ups.
Amyr Walker | G 2023 West Catholic (PA)
One fan noted, “wherever the ball is, that’s where Amyr is” and he couldn’t have been more right. Walker dove on the floor for loose balls, rebounding over taller defenders, and blitzing pick-and-rolls. His 8 points came on hustle and hard drives to the hoop. The sixth man’s simple ability to play winning basketball has already landed him an offer from Thomas Jefferson University.
