I viewed 10 teams with eight Varsity and two Junior Varsity.
Here were some of the younger standouts on the day:
2025
Quincy Everson Quincy Everson 6'1" | CG Millennium | 2025 State AZ Millenium
A very good showing from Everson. He can hit the catch three, he is a tough on-ball defender with his long arms and is sneaky quick to get to the rim. He likes the euro game and his handle is starting to improve in tight quarters. He shot the ball very well this weekend and handles contact easily.
Mateo Sullivan Mateo Sullivan 6'7" | PF Goldwater | 2025 State AZ Mountain Ridge
Mountain Ridge played the talented Ironwood team and struggled a little but Sullivan was a clear bright spot. He is a power forward who has long arms to rebound and will score on hook shots. He can hit the elbow jumper and plays with good energy on both ends of the court.
Cristian Acevedo Cristian Acevedo 6'7" | PF Apollo | 2025 State AZ Apollo
A sturdy framed power forward looks like someone the Hawks can play through in stretches. He is a good rebounder with soft hands and outlets the ball down the court to his guards. He can spring up to rebound and he seems like he will live on the glass all season and score in the paint.
Kingston Tosi Kingston Tosi 6'7" | SF Millennium | 2025 State AZ Millennium
One of the top sophs showed off all his talents versus Centennial. He nearly was perfect from the field scoring it a variety of ways. He was driving with ball fakes, getting on the glass and hitting the three. He will block shots and rebounds well in area. He is taking contact better and will score through it. He is a smart passer and he carried the Tigers during many stretches.
JT Amundsen JT Amundsen 5'8" | CG Millennium | 2025 State AZ Millennium
A high IQ combo guard can shoot it with the best of them when he is in rhythm. He shoots the three and competes on defense. He makes good entry feeds to his post players and will play the passing lanes.
Seraphin Iradukunda Seraphin Iradukunda 6'8" | PF Camelback | 2025 State AZ Camelback
A brand new player who came in from Rwanda. He has decent size and length. He is a quick leaper who often scores on put backs. He is an out of area rebounder using a real motor. He will block shots in his area and he is developing a jump shot.
David Leszczynski David Leszczynski 6'0" | CG Paradise Honors | 2025 State AZ Paradise Honors
A high IQ scoring combo guard is a good passer. He scores inside through contact with either hand and he will hit the catch three. He smartly uses the pick and roll to his advantage and he may get brought up on varsity next year.
2026
Johnny Rios III Johnny Rios III 5'8" | PG Centennial | 2026 State AZ Centennial
A tough scoring point guard is a real ball handler and he sees the court well. He has a smooth handle and real speed to blow passed his defenders. He can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble being guarded heavily on varsity already. He will be invaluable off the bench to take pressure off their senior guards.
Dom Del Mar PG 5’8 Willow Canyon
A scoring point guard with a huge IQ. He shoots it easily and will make up the court passes. He has a little burst with a tighter handle and is very crafty. He can use the spin moves, hit on pull-ups and catch threes. He makes smart reads and just knows how to play.
2027
Adrien Isaac Porras Adrien Isaac Porras 6'11" | C Hillcrest Prep | 2027 State AZ Sequoia Pathfinder Academy (Pictured)
A legit sized center for an eighth grader. The left hander is a top-notch shot blocker. He is a true imposing problem for the offense and defense. He dunks the ball effortlessly and will block any shot near him. He is fluid mover and has good court awareness. He is a glass cleaner with offensive rebounds and will score on put backs. He has pretty good feet and hands with a decent touch in the paint and improving post footwork.
