It was a battle of conditioning, which teams could battle through 2 tough games to reach the final game. The Trailblazers (Monterey Trail defeated the Red Raiders (Jesuit) in the final contest. Here we have a few standouts from the class of 2025. Big Dawgs (Sheldon) have a good group in this class. They’ll have some growing pains, but they will battle.
Mahammad Singleton 6’0 Guard of Big Dawgs (Sheldon)
Singleton is a rising prospect in this class. He plays a good all-around game. The athletic guard will have his ups and downs, he’ll be a contributor. He has a good set of tools to work with. He handles, and passes with good vision, he had some success attacking the rim, he made several shifty moves off the dribble to challenge bigs for buckets. He shoots the 3 ball better than expected. He’ll defend at 6’0 he’ll fight for a rebound. He’s good on both sides of the ball.
Jaden Spears Jaden Spears 6'4" | SF Sheldon | 2025 State CA-N 6’4 G/F of Big Dawgs (Sheldon)
A long wing type prospect does a good job of receiving and completing the basket when he makes a cut towards the rim. He had some success beating defenders off the dribble, and getting into the paint using his length for paint jumpers, and challenging bigs. He’s a bit on the thin side, but tough enough to handle the body contact. He jumps well to go after blocks and rebounds, he can defended in the paint and on the perimeter.
Darrion Lilly Darrion Lilly 6'5" | SF Weston Ranch | 2025 State CA-N 6’4 Forward of Weston Ranch (Stockton Basketball)
Lilly has gotten bigger and stronger. He’ll rebound, and defend bigger players for this team that likes to play uptempo basketball. He’s improved his ball handling, and shooting from the outside, should make him more of a scoring threat when he has the ball. He plays on balance and can use his body, and dribble to get inside on occasion. He’ll shoot a 3ptr if left open.
Zamani Nigl Zamani Nigl 6'4" | SF Sheldon | 2025 State CA-N 6’4 Forward of Big Dawgs (Sheldon)
Nigl is part of a young core of 2025 standouts for this team. Often when watching this group, you’ll see something new. Nigl shot the 3 ball well from the corner knocking down a few at the right time. He plays hard, and aggressive on defense trying to slow down a scorer making him work for points, on the perimeter and in the post. At 6’4 he’s one of the main rebounders, he boxes out, rebounds and hustle up court.
John Tofi John Tofi 6'4" | SF Archbishop Riordan | 2025 State CA-N 6’4 G/F of Big Dawgs (Sheldon)
We saw Tofi just last week, but he’s worth mentioning again. He’s one of the promising 2025 prospects on this team with his versatile style of play. Ball handling, passing, and steadying the team when needed sometimes. He plays football (QB) on Friday, then Fall Ball on the weekends, we like that. He’s a good shooter long and short, he’ll defend and help on the boards.
