Prep Hoops Missouri just released its updated Class of 2024 rankings over the weekend. We begin our positional breakdowns with a look at the first group of point/combo guards in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1160661' first='Jobe' last='Bryant'] (Park Hills Central): The 6'0" point guard has been a standout since taking the ball as a freshman two seasons ago. He is an elite passer who can also score on dribble penetration and tough drives into the paint. As a sophomore, he averaged 20 points a game to lead the Rebels to its second consecutive Class 4 district championships. He has good strength and power along with an extremely high basketball IQ. He played with the Brad Beal Elite 16Us during the summer grassroots season. He is also a standout on the football field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1160818' first='Tim' last='Wooden'] (KC Central): A 6'0" point guard who has been a two-year varsity standout at Central. He's a physically strong player who combines excellent playmaking skills with his ability to score. He has solid quickness and he's very shifty off the dribble to keep defenders off balance. He can score in the paint through the contact and he can also knock down the 3-pointer. He played with the KC Run GMC 16Us during the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1160820' first='B.J.' last='Williamson'] (New Madrid Central): A 6'0" combo guard who earned All-State honors as a freshman in 2021, but he did not play last season. He is an athletic guard who attacks the basket in a relentless fashion and he can finish in traffic against defenders of any size. He was also flashing an improved perimeter jumper to compliment his driving game the last time I watched him play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1427985' first='Isaiah' last='Bonaparte'] (Hickman): A 6'2" point guard who was the floor leader for the Kewpies team that won the CMAC championship last season. He has good quickness and smooth handles and he can penetrate into the lane on a regular basis. He has a nice pull up jumper from the mid-range and he is also extending his shooting range. He is also a solid defender who is growing in stature as his game has continued to grow. He played during the summer with the Columbia Supreme 16Us.

[player_tooltip player_id='1427981' first='Clayton' last='Jackson'] (Cardinal Ritter): The 6'1" guard was a starter and solid contributor to the Lions Class 5 third-place team. He was solid as a distributor and defensive player. He blossomed as a full offensive threat during the summer with the Team Ramey 16Us. His physical strength enables him to power his way into the lane. He has the ability to score on runners and short jumpers and he can also knock down the 3-pointer. He has a nice array of moves and ability to change his pace on the move.

[player_tooltip player_id='1579852' first='Grant' last='Redd'] (St. Pius X): A 5'9" point guard who has been a two-year standout at St. Pius as the floor leader. He helped lead St. Pius to a Final Four appearance in the Class 4 state tournament as a freshman in 2021. He followed up to averaged 12 point and four assists a game as a sophomore. He is a table-setter who can distribute the basketball, but he can also create his own shot and knock down 3-pointers. He played with the VWBA-YOBO 16U squad during the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1428000' first='Ashton' last='Jermain'] (Raymore-Peculiar): A 5'10" point guard who can play the role of a playmaker and primary scorer for his team with equal effectiveness. He is a small guard, but he has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range and he can create space to get off his own shot off the dribble with his crafty moves. He's a coach's kid who has good savvy and a nice feel for the game with his playmaking ability. He averaged 13 points a game as a sophomore and he had a nice summer playing for the KC Spurs 16U squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259032' first='Kavan' last='Newberry'] (Lee's Summit North): A 5'11" point guard with excellent quickness and a good feel for the game. His court vision is very good as he can drop dimes on the move to cutting teammates and locate them before they know they are open. He has fast penetrating moves off the bounce and he can also knock down 3-pointers. He played with the Missouri Hawks 16U squad during the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1160836' first='Quincy' last='Thomas'] (Summit): A talented 5'10" point guard who plays with excellent speed and change of pace in the open court. He can get into the lane with his penetration and finish well on runners and layups high off the glass. He keeps his head on a swivel as he locates open teammates while still moving fast. He averaged 11 points, five rebounds and four assists a game as a sophomore. He can also knock down the open 3-pointer. He spent the summer playing with Arsenal Hoops 16Us.
