Now that school has started a number of them have become official. While there may possibly be some things to work out in terms of waivers, etc. we are fully expecting these to be the top transfers to watch in 2022-23 from the Class of 2024:
The Top Five
1 – TJ Latu TJ Latu 6'3" | CG Jefferson | 2024 State OR , Jefferson (from De La Salle North Catholic)
Head coach Pat Strickland didn’t decide to come back to Jefferson without some talent on hand, and Latu is a big part of that. The tough 6-foot-2 combo guard actually enrolled at Jeff back in the spring and should have no problem adjusting to 6A as he’s played club ball at the highest level all his life. It’s not often a First Team All-Stater at any level can be added as a newcomer and Latu should help the Demos compete for a league title.
2 – Chance Winter Chance Winter 6'10" | C Beaverton | 2024 State OR , Beaverton (from Glencoe)
Winter moves to Beaverton from Glencoe and his transfer will make waves not only for the Metro League title but in the state championship race. With his 6-foot-10 size and elite shot-blocking skills – he led all of 6A last season – the junior instantly adds a defensive presence for the guard-heavy Beavers and he’s steadily improved offensively down low as well.
3 – Miguel Taylor Miguel Taylor 6'6" | CG Summit | 2024 State ID , Summit (from Benson)
Summit drops down to 5A and would have been an instant top five team anyway, but the addition of Taylor gives them an argument for being the favorite. The 6-foot-7 forward can score both inside and out and his versatility will give head coach Jon Frazier plenty of options on both ends of the floor. Having played in the tough PIL, there’s no question Taylor won’t be phased by the new Intermountain Conference.
4 – Nick Digiulio Nick Digiulio 5'9" | PG West Linn | 2024 State OR , West Linn (from Wells)
6A’s leader in three-point field goals made per game takes his super quick release down to West Linn, where his role should be similar – knock down the open three. With much of the defensive attention put on the Lions backcourt of Shelstad and Mosley, look for DiGiulio to get plenty of catch-and-shoot opportunities but he’ll also get the chance to show off his improved off-the-dribble game.
5 – Kamar Benbo Kamar Benbo 6'3" | SG Parkrose | 2024 State OR , Benson (from Parkrose)
Benbo transferred to Benson in mid-season last year and is all ready to make an impact for the Techmen, who will have several new faces on the roster. The 6-foot-2 guard is bouncy and athletic and his ability to really get up and down the floor and finish in transition will make Benson a serious contender in a very tough PIL race.
