Conference Commentary
Top Contenders: Spectrum, West Lutheran,
West Lutheran was 13-1 in league play last year and they return their leading scorer, three of their top four players, and several reserves that will take steps forward. The Warriors will be the preseason favorite. They will edge out Legacy Christian as that favorite because of those two three/four score wins last year BUT, Legacy Christian has almost everything back from last season. That includes the best player in the league in Aiden Johnson Aiden Johnson 6'6" | PF Legacy Christian Academy | 2023 State MN and the best junior in Micah Strand Micah Strand 5'11" | PG Legacy Christian | 2024 State MN . Spectrum has a couple starters back, a couple reserves back, and still has enough talent to make a push at the league title. This should be a great title fight to watch all season.
Compete with Most: Eagle Ridge, Heritage Christian, PACT, North Lakes
Not sure Eagle Ridge will fall back to a rebuild but with four starters gone they will likely take a step back from last year’s 16-win season. Heritage Christian didn’t have a senior last season and their four best players were freshmen. So they should take a nice step forward from their 7-15 season. The question is, how big of a step? Can they be a contender? Those four frosh are now sophomores and they will grow a lot, and likely make games quite uncomfortable for the top teams. Maybe they even grab an upset or two. But I think they are likely a year away from contending. PACT has their top three guys back including the dynamic 2024 duo of Victor Nyabuto Victor Nyabuto 6'1" | PG PACT | 2024 MN and Micah Givand Micah Givand 6'0" | SG Pact Charter School | 2024 MN , we think they could come close to doubling last year’s win total (overall). North Lakes does not have much depth but they do have a couple very solid players that will be seniors.
Rebuilding: United Christian Academy
Their best players are back but they only won two games last season (not to mention their best player was in grade 8 last season).
