Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: Lakeview, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton
RTR has a chance to make a title push. Their rotation went nine deep last season and six of those players are back including their top two scorers and three full time starters. With state title experience and talent in both the senior and junior classes, RTR should once again have big dreams. Lakeview will be right there with them though as the Lakers went 22-6 last year and bring their full starting line-up, a line-up that will be all seniors. And has the best player in the league, Nathan Fenske Nathan Fenske 6'2" | SG Lakeview | 2023 State MN .
Top Ten Potential: Dawson-Boyd
It may not take long for the Jacks to go from potential top ten, to top ten. They won 18 games last season and bring back their best players including senior Keegon Wicht, senior Kevi Olson, and one of the better sophomores in the state, Brayson Boike Brayson Boike 6'8" | PF Dawson Boyd | 2025 State #326 Nation MN .
Compete with Most: CMC, Canby, MACCRAY, KMS
TMB likely will take a step back with all of the graduation losses. There will be a step back but Trevor Smith Trevor Smith 6'0" | SG TMB | 2025 State MN returns and they should have some including talent ready to go. Canby will surely double their win total from last year’s five wins as they have their best two players back as seniors. CMC was led by veterans and had some good years including their 25-4 season last year. The Bluejays won’t fall much because they do return have their rotation and all league talent Ethan Bulthuis. KMS was mostly seniors a season ago so many spots must be filled but they will still be a tough team to beat.
Rebuilding: TMB, Renville County West, Minneota, Yellow Medicine East, Ortonville, LQPV
When it comes to senior graduation hurting a team I would say that TMB was hit the hardest among this group. All four of their all league players graduated although Trevor Smith Trevor Smith 6'0" | SG TMB | 2025 State MN is a nice sophomore. Minneota has hit some rough spots but Max Rost might be able to pull them forward for a better year. Bryce Sneller of YME could help his team win more than the two games they won last season. LQPV lost all of their major contributions so there will be changes for the Eagles as they settle in a new group.
