Santa Ana Mater Dei took home the Challenge of Champions bracket championship, beating Corona Centennial in Sunday’s title game. Below is a breakdown of the All-Showcase team, made up of players who participated in games outside of bracket play.
Ben Roseborough Ben Roseborough 6'3" | SG Bella Vista Prep | 2024 #158 Nation AZ , 2024, Monterey Trail – When he gets on a roll, Roseborough is simply a scoring machine who can put up points in a hurry. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has a smooth pull-up jumper that extends from the mid-range to the three-point levels of the floor and uses his combination of strength and explosive athleticism to power up through rim protectors and finish in the lane.
Deshawn Gory Deshawn Gory 6'8" | SF Red Rock Academy | 2024 NV , 2024, Oak Hills – The long, wiry wing continues to rise up the recruiting ladder here in California not only because of what his skill-set looks like now, but what it could potentially be in the long term. The 6-foot-6 junior has fluid shooting mechanics and consistency from three-point range off the catch, but his ability to put the ball on the floor, attack the rim, and finish with dunks over rim protectors is what makes him a super intriguing prospect. Gory’s frame and fluid athleticism also leads us to believe he has a high defensive ceiling.
Dylan Benner Dylan Benner 6'8" | PF St. Bonaventure | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, St. Bonaventure – Benner is a highly-skilled forward out of the Ventura area whose skill-set is kind of a combination of a modern and throwback four man. The 6-foot-8 forward can step out on the perimeter and hit face-up mid-range or three point shots and has the ability to take defenders off the dribble and to the rim where he can finish through contact.
Jacob Huggins Jacob Huggins 6'7" | PF Harvard-Westlake | 2023 State #281 Nation CA-S , 2023, Harvard-Westlake – The Wolverines only played one game on the weekend and Huggins was their most consistent performer. The 6-foot-8 lefty forward has always been the defender, rebounder, screener and all-around “glue guy” for Harvard-Westlake, and while he’s still thriving in that role, he has become a player who is a viable scoring option down low. Huggins is great when screening and rolling to rim for catches and finishes and made some impressive reads and passes out of the post.
Jason Crowe, Jr., 2026, Lynwood – Crowe had quite the high school event debut as he scored 40-plus points and made it look easy. The 6-foot-2 lefty plays with a confidence well-beyond his years and that includes a scoring package made up of just about every move and shot in the book. Crowe hits three’s off the catch and off the bounce, is a crafty driver and finisher at the rim and flashed some pull-up and floater game at the mid-range level. What impressed me most about his game is the fact that he didn’t force too many shots and looked to get his teammates involved.
