Zoan Robinson Zoan Robinson 6'3" | SG Vermillion | 2024 SD – SG/PG/SF, 6’3″ 175lbs
Robinson is a swingman hybrid in his style of game also being a combo guard of sorts, which gives his versatility something that teams should be worried about when they see him on the court. While he is undersized for the typical small forward, the Vermillion team as a whole runs smaller and relies on passing along with shooting as opposed to big men in the paint. Robinson has some great movement outside of the ball and can shift around defenders to get some quick shots when he gets the ball in his hand. His jump shot is very smooth and has a great motion at the end that makes it look quite good and even better when you see it in the air. He can pass the rock around at times but you will mainly see him as a wing who can stifle teams on both sides of the ball. Overall, a solid player who has a great game to back it up and is a great swiss army knife player.
Carter Hansen Carter Hansen 6'3" | SG Vermillion | 2025 State SD – SG, 6’2″ 165lbs
Put it simply, Hansen is a shooter and he can sure do that well. With how the offense is set up with the Tanagers, shooters are vital to put points up on the board and Hansen fits that role quite excellently. He is a three-point shooting two guard who can work his way through traffic to get open and use his agility to make those plays happen. His jumper is solid and has few flaws, with the release he has that works wonder to get 3’s up fast and more times getting them in for a bucket. He can give you some coverage on the defensive side of the ball, while it is not anything locked down, it is great for a guard who focuses on getting some buckets. Hansen will be a piece to watch this year with the small lineup that Vermillion runs, and I for one will be looking for him to have some great shooting splits as the year goes on.
Ty Hertz – PG, 6’0″ 170lbs
Hertz is scrappy and gritty when is out on the court and that is exactly what his team needs him to do. As a general 1 guard, he can pass quite well and link up with his teammates to get the rock in everyone’s hand before the possession ends. He is a pass-first player that will always set up his teammates for a great shot and will make defenders always question what he is going to do next. Hertz’s other side of the game is the defensive scrappiness that garners him steals and some lockdown coverage to put defenders in a box that few seldom get out of. He gets his hands in there without drawing many fowls and makes everyone extra careful with the rock when they see him matched up with him. Overall, I like what Hertz brings to the table and how well he can do that, defensive pass-first guards always are a pleasure to watch for the energy they bring to the court and how well they play with their teammates.
Carter Skogsberg – PF, 6’4″ 220lbs
Skogsberg is not the biggest force in the paint but that also plays into his ability to be a stretch big man who can set screens and pass the ball quite well. Skogsberg can block some shots and he does that with his lanky arms and wingspan for his height, making him a player who in theory could guard players 1-5 and do that quite well. His screens that he can set up with his playmakers make him a brick wall and players that run into him are simply flattened by the upper body strength that he has on himself. Most impressive is how well he can move and make adjustments in his game to match up with those who are trying to guard him on the offensive end. While undersized, he does not play like it and has a high motor to boot with his game, making him a threat on both sides of the ball regardless of his size.
