The John T. Rhodes Sports Center in Myrtle Beach was once again the site for this year’s Top 250 festivities for the Palmetto State. The talent that was assembled for this past Sunday’s event was assorted into 12 teams with each team playing a grand total of three games.
There are not too many better ways to launch one’s 2022-23 campaign than with a stellar showing at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. These shooters from all over the state did just that.
At the end of the 2021-22 season, O’Kelley was coming off a campaign where his 3A Wildcats nearly qualified for that class’s Upper State Final. He then translated that momentum into the travel season with Next Level Elite 2023. When one mentions the term “at-will scorer,” O’Kelley certainly fits that description as he will find ways to put points on the board – whether it is in the open floor or by attacking the basket. He also is not afraid of contact that can place him at the free throw line. O’Kelley also places a great deal of emphasis on ball handling. Expect his recruitment to take a major leap forward in the coming two seasons.

Hendrix did not have a long way to travel to get to the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. The school itself is only a 13 minute drive from the John T. Rhodes Sports Center. He is one who opposing teams cannot afford to leave open behind the 3-point arc. Hendrix is also as gifted as a passer as he is a shooter and his ball handling skills help him greatly when penetrating to the basket. Hendrix helped the Saints posted a 20-5 record along with a 13-1 mark in SCISA Region 3-2A. Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach will move to the 3A SCISA classification.

Following the 2021-22 season, Hughes took to the grassroots circuit where he participated in AAU basketball with Palmetto City Hurricanes. Hughes is listed at an even six feet and is a combo guard. He gets set to receive passes from teammates and can operate efficiently as an iso player. Hughes puts plenty of emphasis on his ability to handle the rock and limit turnovers. He understands the art of driving to the rim and getting past a sea of defenders en route to the rack. Hughes‘ ability to drain 3-pointers only add to how much of an asset he can be to a team.

This Four stands at 6-foot-2, has a primary position at the two and can give opposing teams problems with how well he drains the three. He places as much emphasis on his ball handling as he does with ensuring his 3-point shot has pinpoint accuracy. He will also deliver on tunaround jumpers in the midrange game. Petre also displays how effective he is with what he does in transition. In an iso situation, he will keep defenders on their heels as they have to gameplan for if Petre will attempt a 3-pointer or if he will slice and dice his way to the rim.
