Now there are the likes of Chris Paul and Kyrie Ivring. What do all of these players have in common. The dice up defensive players and break ankles on the regular. Ball handle so adept it boggles the mind and crosses the feet. Here are the ankle breakers that graced our presence at the Prep Hoops New England Top 250 Expo.
John Hilaire John Hilaire 5'6" | PG Tolman | 2025 NLG – PG – Tolman High School – Class of 2025
This is not the first time I have written about this impressive young point guard out of Rhode Island. He is a product of the 401 Phoenix program based out of Providence, RI. This swift lefty dribbles adeptly with both hands. He is and absolutely elusive target that confounds defenders on a regular basis. Quick and sure hands matched with swift feet and a creative mind helps John tie his defenders in a pretzel. Put the ball in his hands and you will be very pleased with what happens.
Jayson Njoroge Jayson Njoroge 6'0" | CG Saint Johns | 2023 NLG – PG/SG – St. Johns – Class of 2023
Jayson is a mesmerizing ball handler that can rock a defender to sleep like a new born baby. I watched him tie defenders in knots from the wing time after time at the top 250 expo. in one such situation he hit his defender with a hesitation cross between the legs from the left wing only to spin on the help defender and splash a tear drop floater that Steph Curry himself would be jealous of. I cannot wait to see what this young man does next.
Malachi Coooper – PG – Holy Trinity – Class of 2024
The New England area is getting so hot that New York Players Head this way. Malachi made the trip up for the New England Expo and did not disappoint. His dribble is like a rhythmic beat in a good song. It lulls his defenders to sleep then he attacks. If you are a New York PG you have to bring handle and Malachi certainly did. He did New York proud and put New England and the rest of the country on notice. he will rock you to sleep, cross you up and score with ease.
Amare Nieves Amare Nieves 5'5" | PG Saint John's Preparatory | 2025 NLG – PG – St. Johns Prep – Class of 2025
The youngest member of our ankle breaker team, Amare does not disappoint. Watching him play now makes me worried about those trying to defend him when he is a senior. This incoming Sophomore kills his defenders off the dribble. he may be a walking mix tape. The problem is you have to get up on him because his deadly range means he will knock down threes all day if you don’t step up. This young man is about to put the whole Commonwealth of Massachusetts on notice. you can see it in his eyes, guard me if you think you can. The problem for every defender is he wants you to step up so he can blow by you.
