Continue ReadingOuachita Parish and Monroe City have some of the best talent in Louisiana basketball. The parish has some of the best teams in 4A and 3A with a number of them making repeat appearances during Marsh Madness. So, needless to say, their top 10 players are guys who can absolutely get it done on the hardwood. In this Prep Hoops Louisiana article, we will look at the best players in Ouachita Parish/Monroe City.
1. Courtney McCarthy Courtney McCarthy 6'5" | SG Richwood | 2023 State LA (6’5″ | Richwood)
McCarthy has a versatile skill set and is the best player in his parish. He can rebound and shoot the three just as well as any guard or wing. McCarthy has the ball-handling skills to play point guard as well. Playing four positions makes him a weapon on the court and is the reason why he is the top player in this area.
2. Kamron Coleman Kamron Coleman 6'8" | PF Wossman | 2023 State LA (6’8″ | Wossman)
Coleman is one of the best forwards in the state when it comes to bringing energy to every game and protecting the rim. While he is long, wiry and very active on defense, he is just as active on offense. Coleman uses his long arms to gather rebounds and to create extra opportunities for the offense. He is a player to watch in the all-state running as well.
3. Cardez Norman Cardez Norman 6'6" | PF Sterlington | 2024 LA (6’7″ | Sterlington)
Norman has grown by leaps and bounds, physically and literally, when it comes to basketball. This summer, he showed that he can be a dominant post player by controlling the paint every game he played. Norman can fill the lane in transition, block shots in and out of his area, and rebound the ball at a high level. He is one of the best kept secrets in the state that will shine this coming season.
4. Juvian Keys Juvian Keys 6'2" | SG Wossman | 2023 State LA (6’3″ | Wossman)
Keys has the potential to be the best player in the parish to be honest. He is explosive to the rim and he is a better shooter than people think. Keys is a dog on defense and he can change the game with his man-to-man play. His play may be underrated but he is as good as they get on both ends of the floor.
5. Jordan Comanche Jordan Comanche 6'6" | CG Wossman | 2024 State LA (6’5″ | Wossman)
Comanche looks like he may be the primary point guard for the Wildcats and that position seems to suit him royally. He is a combo guard however who can attack the rim and he can shoot it from downtown. Comanche is also a solid rebounder which means he can grab it off the glass and go. He will probably be one of the top players in the 2024 class when he is done.
6. Jonathan Bradshaw Jonathan Bradshaw 6'4" | SF Ouachita | 2023 State LA (6’5″ | Ouachita)
The Ouachita lefty is an inside and outside threat in the half court. He can take forwards and bigs on the perimeter and beat them off the dribble or shot over guards who switch onto him. Bradshaw is also very good on the boards and can dominate a game that way. With his inside-outside game, Bradshaw is a hard player to guard.
7. Antron Mason II Antron Mason II 6'1" | CG Wossman | 2025 State LA (6’1″ | Wossman)
Mason is such a smooth and versatile guard it is hard to believe that he is just going to be a sophomore. He had a productive summer during team camp play and on the UAA circuit because he shot the ball well from deep and he found guys with passes from his penetration. Mason is a guard who is not afraid of anything and will be a weapon for the Wildcats when he leaves the gridiron.
8. Krystian Lewis (6’2″ | Wossman)
Lewis is coming off an injury this summer but he is primed to be part of the Wildcat attack when the season begins. He is a three level scorer who likes to get to the rim and finish. Lewis was part of the Wildcat starting lineup last season and I can see him being there again.
9. Jaquinton Jackson Jaquinton Jackson 6'7" | PF RIchwood | 2023 State LA (6’6″ | Richwood)
The forward from RIchwood is as active as a forward can be around the rim. He has a quick jump off the floor when it comes to rebounding around the rim, he is very good. Jackson can run the floor as well and can punish the rim when he gets a straight line to do so. He is very good with his play in the paint.
10. Zion Weeks Zion Weeks 6'0" | PG Wossman | 2025 State LA (6’1″ | Ouachita)
Weeks is an aggressive guard who likes to get to the rim. When I say aggressive however, that means Weeks likes to handle things by taking things out of the hands of others and trying to complete the task himself. He knows how to drain the triple and get to the rim. He is also very good defending in the open floor. He is a guard who plays very maturely for his age.
Other players to watch

Jordan Davis Jordan Davis 6'1" | PG Ouachita | 2023 State LA (5’11” | Ouachita) – defensive-minded guard who is a very good facilitator; very good man-to-man defender
