He did a great session of drill work, transition play, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games and there were plenty of players who stood out. Here’s a look at part 1 of some of the standouts.
Patrick O’Brien Patrick O’Brien 6'8" | C Bishop O'Connell | 2023 State VA | 6’8” PF | Bishop O’Connell 2023
O’Brien continues to show throughout the summer and fall that he’s one of the most under recruited players in the state of VA. In the camp setting he worked hard in drills and showed why he’s improved in his ball handling and shooting so much, he ran the floor in game settings and showed his above the rim finishing ability and showed how he can impact the game in a number of different ways.
Owen Gray Owen Gray 6'10" | C Steward | 2024 State VA | 6’8” PF | Steward School 2024
Gray continues to show his improvement and why he’s a big worth tracking for D1 coaches as he’s learned how to turn his athleticism and size into production in a number of different ways. He moves very well and you could see in the drill portion that his fluidity allows him to do things most guys his size can’t do, he runs hard in transition and attacks the rim hard and he’s becoming stronger to be able to muscle his way in the paint to finish above the rim.
Donovan Richardson Donovan Richardson 6'6" | PG Steward | 2025 State #166 Nation VA | 6’5” CG | Collegiate 2025
Richardson is great in camps like this and was often chose to lead the drills because of his fantastic fundamentals and the fact that he does everything the right way. He doesn’t get sped up with the ball and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands, he’s a strong guard with good size who can get in the lane and make plays and he can knock down shots from all over the floor.
Cole Bowser Cole Bowser 6'5" | SG DeMatha | 2025 State MD | 6’5” WG | DeMatha 2025
Bowser showed why he could be one of the top shooters in the DMV over the next few years as the 6’5” wing from DeMatha absolutely lit it up with range and consistency. He has long arms and a frame that should fill out, he showed deep and effortless range both in the drill portions and in the game play and the confidence that he has and the fact that it always seems to go in when he lets it go is extremely impressive.
Sebastian Whitfield Sebastian Whitfield 6'5" | SF Cape Henry | 2025 State VA | 6’5” WG | Cape Henry 2025
Whitfield is one of the top young players in the 757 and he showed why at the camp playing against some of the top young players in the state and not only holding his own by shining in game sets and 3-on-3. The 6’5” wing is a very good shot maker who can knock down shots from deep off the catch, he can put it on the deck and get to spots to score it in the midrange and he’s strong enough to get to the rim and finish through contact too.
Finley Billy | 6’7” PF | St. John’s 2026
Billy is a very intriguing prospect out of the DC area who will be a name to remember in the WCAC over the next few years. The 6’7” stretch big is an exceptional shooter from deep with great form and a consistent release that is water off the catch, he has long arms and a frame that is likely still growing and will fill out and he has a very good work ethic and IQ for a player his age.
