Jerrell Barron Jr- Atascocita High School (2024)
Jerrell put on quite a show in the two games for Atascocita on Saturday, showing his poise and ability to perform under pressure in both high profile contests against Nimitz and Second Baptist. He showed an uncanny ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc as well as his quickness blowing by defenders driving to the rim. Barron made sure to always keep his teammates involved and was instrumental in both of his team’s victories going head to head with two physical opposing teams. Jerrell is poised for a big breakout year with the Eagles and will make some serious noise in a competitive district!!
Cameron Patterson Cameron Patterson 6'5" | SG Summer Creek | 2024 State #324 Nation TX – Summer Creek High School (2024)
Cameron showed he is at a completely next level when it comes to his game this weekend, making it look easy on both ends of the court. His arsenal of dribble moves was on full display, easily brushing past his defender every time to the rim and he also showed a strong ability to knock down foul shots at the free throw line. His defense was also critical as he was able to average about 3 to 4 blocks for his Bulldogs squad per contest and was making everything look easy. He also proved to be a very effective emotional leader as he was able to encourage his team and was very vocal on defense at the right times. Patterson will only get better as the season moves forward and I am looking forward to watching him play again!
Jamey Ty Beston- St. Thomas High School (2023)
Jamey’s marksmanship as a sharpshooter was on full display in the first half of a game against Cy Fair as he hit on 4/5 three pointers he shot, propelling his team off to a hot start and an early lead. He continued to hoist up shots, hitting a couple more of his attempts as the game moved forward and helped his team secure the lead when he also started attacking the rim, finishing with ease. Beston also played elite defense, notching some steals and hitting his teammates with precision outlet passes for a finish at the other end. Beston will continue to play at this kind of level throughout this year and will increase his stock greatly!
Kyle Morgan- Summer Creek High School (2023)
Kyle played a leader role for his squad this weekend in both of their games on Saturday against Willis and Concordia Lutheran. He showed poise in knocking down his open jumpers and also demonstrated his ability to keep his teammates involved with his passing vision on the offensive end. Kyle figures to receive extended minutes this year with the graduation of the team’s top two guards from last year, and he will have an extended role in the offense where he will have an opportunity to showcase his prowess. I am looking for big things from Morgan this season and I think his game should take a big jump forward!!
Michael Oaks- St. Thomas High School (2023)
Michael was a tremendous source of offense for his St. Thomas squad this weekend on Saturday and will only continue to improve off this performance. Oaks is an expert at using his length to finish over smaller defenders at the rim and also connect on alley oops with teammates. Michael also showed a great outside shot and was phenomenal inside the paint on defense, blocking about 7 to 8 shots in a game against Cy Fair. Michael Oaks will be a household name to remember this year in the TAPPS district play, and I am sure he will dramatically become more impressive over the season.
