Highlights
Andrew Hill from the Sandia Matadors is a crafty left-handed guard that is poised for a big senior season this winter. He is among one of the best with the ball in his hands and one of the top isolation players in basketball. Andrew has a variety of moves in his offensive game and has many tricks up his sleeve. He is one of those players that you don’t have to draw plays for because he can create and get his own shot whenever he wants. Andrew has a nice outside stroke and can mix it up by getting inside the paint with zero difficulty.
David Cruz David Cruz 5'9" | CG Las Cruces | 2024 NM is one of the most light’s out three-point shooters in the state of New Mexico. He has played in many big games the past few years for the Las Cruces High School during the Boys 5A State Tournament. He has stretched the floor with his shooting and has shot the ball with efficiency. David can play either guard position and has turned into a solid “Three and D” player who plays exceptional defense against other opposing guards.
Dalen Moyer Dalen Moyer 6'0" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM is an entertaining player to watch. Just like teammate Andrew Hill, Dalen Moyer Dalen Moyer 6'0" | CG Sandia | 2023 State NM is an exceptional one on one player who knows how to put the basketball in the hoop. He has a great handle on the ball and uses that too his advantage when creating his own shot. Dalen is a good pull-up scorer from long-range and knows how to slither his way inside the paint. This past off-season, he played with extreme confidence and was way more aggressive looking for his own shots.
Jonah Lopez Jonah Lopez 6'2" | SG Rio Grande | 2023 State NM from Rio Grande High School has a ton of talent. In my opinion he is more of a forward than a shooting guard but that just makes him a dangerous player to go up against. Jonah for a shooting guard has a long wingspan which comes in handy on both ends of the floor. He has a solid mid-range game and pulls up with confidence. Jonah receives so much attention as the Raven’s primary scoring option which helps open up his teammates game.
After covering Isaiah Denetclaw Isaiah Denetclaw 6'3" | SG La Cueva | 2023 State NM for the last few years, it’s easy for me to say there isn’t 39 players currently in his Class that is better than him. Isaiah is well known for his outside three-point shooting but over the past year, he has shown that he’s more than just a three-point shooting specialist. He has shown more consistency at attacking the basket by putting the basketball on the floor which has opened up his perimeter scoring. Isaiah is an underrated and willing rebounder which helps take pressure off the big’s on his squad. He has become a reliable “Three and D” player who makes an impact on both sides of the floor. Every championship contender could use a player like Isaiah Denetclaw Isaiah Denetclaw 6'3" | SG La Cueva | 2023 State NM on their roster.
Ezra Guest Ezra Guest 6'0" | SG Los Lunas | 2023 State NM from Los Lunas High School can flat out hoop. He is a shooting guard that can definitely keep up with many players in New Mexico. Ezra plays under control at a nice pace which doesn’t hurt the team’s offense. He was responsible for much of the Tiger’s success last season with his ability score the ball. This past August he just recently committed to Colorado Christian University to continue his playing career at the next level. This past off-season, Ezra was very aggressive looking for his shot and that makes his team more dangerous to go against. Ezra is a player you want taking a lot of shots because he takes smart ones and shoots a high percentage for a shooting guard.
Marquise Renfro from Atrisco Heritage Academy High School is set to have a big junior season for the Jaguars. From what I saw from him in the off-season, he looks more confident in his outside shot, stronger and faster on the floor. You can definitely tell Marquise has worked on his outside shot in the summer which has opened up the rest of his game on the offensive end of the floor. He is a player where of he’s hitting his shots from the outside, it makes him unguardable. He is a two-way player who can play both ends of the floor at a high level and knows how to create turnovers and get extra points on the other end of the floor.
