Dylan Chavez Dylan Chavez 6'5" | SG La Cueva | 2024 State #268 Nation NM from ABC Prep has a smooth game. He is a player that is in his junior year of high school that hasn’t reached his full potential yet which is really scary to think about. As a sophomore last year he received interest from Montana State University and Fresno State which is really impressive. He is a tall shooting guard at 6’6 but can play many positions on both sides of the floor. Dylan is a lethal “Catch and Shoot” three-pointer shooter and has a “hot-zone” in the corners. What stands out from his game is he can play off the ball, Dylan can create for himself and others off the dribble. I’m excited too see him get more offers this year.
In my opinion thier isn’t six other players better than Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM in the 2023 Class. When you look at his high school resume for the Del Norte Knights the last three years, you’ll understand why. Before transferring to ABC Prep, Judah was a household name on the high school level and will become one shortly with ABC Prep. In his three years at Del Norte, he was on the varsity roster all three years going back to his freshman year. He was a perennial All-District and All-State player the last two years. Judah was without a doubt one of the top two-way players for the last couple years. He helped the Knights be perennial contenders for the 4A State Championship and led them to their first Title in school history back in 2021. He has always been an athletic scoring guard who was crafty around the basket, but within the last year has added a more consistent three-point shot to his arsenal which makes him incredibly difficult to guard. No one can match his energy on the defensive end where he creates havoc on that side of the floor.
Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM from Los Lunas High School is one of those generational players that the New Mexico community doesn’t get often. He is without a doubt the top prospect in the 2025 Class, but lets not stop there. He is going to be the best player in the state for the next few years until he graduates possibly. It was mind boggling what he accomplished as a freshman and the way he did it. Following his freshman campaign, he received interest from Western New Mexico, a D1 offer from Southern Utah and another D1 offer from New Mexico State University. The way he plays the game at his age is what impressed me about him because it looks like the game just comes so naturally to him. He can hold his own with anyone as far as I’m concerned and will only get better as the years go by. Regardless of what school you root for, it’s impossible not to be a fan of Jalin Holland Jalin Holland 6'5" | SG Los Lunas | 2025 State #85 Nation NM ‘s game.
Caileb Parham Caileb Parham 6'2" | SG Eldorado | 2023 State NM did an unbelievable job leading the Eldorado Eagles to the 5A State Tournament last year. It’s hard to call him underrated because those that watch him closely will tell you he’s one of the best players in the community right now. He is a really good scorer in the open floor that is explosive around the rim. Caileb has a nice vertical and isn’t afraid to embarrass you and dunk it on your head. He is easily one of the best 1v1 players in the state and is one of those players that can go get a bucket whenever he wants.
I have been covering Daniel Steverson Daniel Steverson 6'2" | SG Cleveland | 2025 #315 Nation NM since his freshman days at V.Sue Cleveland High School and it’s crazy how time flies. I remember several of his past teammates and his Head Coach, Sean Jimenez would tell me, “Keep an eye on him”. He adds to his game every year and it’s very noticeable from the last time to the next time you see him play. Daniel has been described as someone who lives in the gym and you can tell. He can play either guard position and has come a long way from his freshman year where he was part of the State Championship team in 2021. He is most dangerous with the ball in his hands where he can create for himself and others around him.
It blows my mind when I don’t hear enough people talking about West Mesa’s Brandon Lagunas. The way I would describe Brandon, he is a complete basketball player that can play either guard position. Their isn’t twenty-eight players in his Class that is better than him, end of discussion. Brandon was the best player on a West Mesa team last season that made their first playoff appearance since the 2017-18 season. Throughout the summer he picked up where he left off since the end of the regular season, and that was lighting up the scoreboard. He is in the discussion as one of the top three-point shooters in the game and has a scary good pull-up jumper when he crosses half-court. I would love to see Brandon get an opportunity to play at the college level after this season.
