The team played high level competition, and has a bunch of college level prospects. At Hoop Group Spooky Nook they won the 17u championship. The Commanders/ICE were a fun team to watch. Here is some of the players who stood out from the class of 2023 Mass Commander’s/ICE Team. Stats are provided by Huddle Assist.

Lateef Patrick
Lateef was one of the biggest stock risers this entire summer. His strong summer, lead to interest from Division 1 college coaches. He received interest from Dartmouth, Merrimack, Delaware, and more. Lateef is a very skilled and athletic player. He is a very crafty Guard. He can score at all three levels, is very efficient, and can play above the rim. He is also a versatile defender, who can guard multiple positions. Coaches say “Lateef is a very coachable player. Lateef made a ton of big plays this summer, against top level competition. In a Hoop group tournament this summer, Lateef had a monster game with 46 points. He finished the tournament with an overall a stat line of 27.6 points per game, shot 42 percent from three, and had an offensive efficiency rating of 75 percent. He also had a strong assist to turnover ratio, and a good Overall Rebounding Rate. Lateef is not a player to sleep on, and has the tools to play at the division 1 college level.

Kyle was one of the most athletic players I have seen play this summer, He can really jump out of the gym, and has such a high vertical. He has the athleticism to make highlight dunks and play way above the rim. He has a quick first step, and can will his way to the paint. He can handle the ball, and also be a facilitator. Kyle has greatly improved his three point shooting, making him an even tougher player to match up with. In the Hoop Group Tournament this summer Kyle Averaged 14 points per game, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Owen Layton
Owen had a very strong summer for the Commanders. He is a skilled guard, and a knock down shooter from three point range. In a Hoop Group event over the summer Owen finished the tournament with a stat line of a 41.7 three point shooting percentage and a offensive efficiency rating of 55.6 percent. Owen plays very smooth on offense, and has a great feel for the game. He also takes a lot of charges, and is not afraid to take a hit for the team.

Martinie Kamga
The 6’6 forward is always one of the hardest working players on the floor. He was named Mr Hustle at a Hoop Group Elite event this summer. He really raised his stock over the summer. Has a good skill set to match his size. He is a versatile Forward, who can stretch the floor, is very athletic, and can finish at or above the rim. He is a high energy player, that is aggressive on the boards, and impacts the game in multiple ways. Martine is a leader, and constantly communicating on the floor.
