A talented quartet of seniors leads the East Lake Eagles with next-level potential. Justin Kruszewski Justin Kruszewski 5'11" | SG East Lake | 2023 State FL gives you the on-ball shooting, contact finishing, and decision making needed for their perimeter core. Henry Hurst Jr. Henry Hurst Jr. 6'0" | CG East Lake | 2023 State FL ‘s shot didn’t fall in week 2, but an improved handle, corner three shooting, and bulk as a ball handler has led to Division 3 interest. The departure of senior Noah Chatman opened up a more prominent role for dynamic scoring guard Albert Lacy Albert Lacy 6'0" | PG East Lake | 2023 FL . He’s quick with the ball in his hands, shoots well off the dribble, and creates space. His flashes of defensive playmaking and three level scoring could lead to a breakout senior season. Newcomer Jace Maples gives this group a true man in the middle, something they haven’t had in a while. Maples is a high energy 6’6 forward with a well developed frame. He rebounds, runs the floor, and scores above the rim off vertical. He’s raw but will extend his game beyond the arc while having two things you can’t teach; tools and heart.
Largo has some work to do this off-season. They’ll need a new pecking order with last year’s leading scorer lost to graduation, and Gavin Ellis may be part of the solution. The 2024 W/F made two of his five attempts from deep, showing off his ability to hit shots off movement and the catch. At 6’5, he has the size to cover multiple positions and the length to affect shots in the paint.
Though Calvary didn’t play a talented team, they did get to show off a talented group of underclassmen. Daniel MacGregor Daniel MacGregor 5'11" | PG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL and Ace Taylor, their pair of 2024 prospects, are fresh off a hot summer and aren’t cooling off. MacGregor is the engine of the team. He demands everyone competes at the same high level he does, scores on all three levels, makes plays for others, has crazy body control, and is a bulldog of a defender. Taylor is an athletic 6’4 wing with a mean streak. He finishes strong through traffic, has touch on his floaters, is a solid passer, is fundamentally sound, and finishes above the rim in traffic. 2026 prospects Jordan Bryant and Ethan Sabec look like they could be the future for Calvary. The 6’5 Bryant dunks off vertical, runs the floor, and effects shots. Sabec is a skinny, long armed marksman that knocked 3 of his five attempts from deep and scored in transition. They’ll both be under the tutelage of MacGregor, one of the most competitive players in the state.
