Continue ReadingAt Mohegan Sun, the Hoop Group New England Jam Fest, was one of the last live events for the summer. this was one of the last time’s for players to rase their stock in front of college coaches live. I attended the tournament, and here we look at 5 stock riser from the event.
Anthony is a 6-4 shooting guard. He can create his own shot, and needs little space to shoot. He hit a number of tough shots throughout the tournament. He was also able to get to the basket, and had some tough finishes at the rim. He cuts really hard away from the ball, and can find the holes in the defense to get an easy layup. He has effective dribble moves. and can even post up if he has the right matchup. On defense he used his laterally quickness to beat the ball handler to the spot, and cut off the angles to drive. Anthony has recently received a scholarship offer from Post. I expect this to be the first of many offers he receives.
Bianco had a standout tournament. He is a crafty and skilled point guard. He can make plays for others, and create his own shot. He isn’t the biggest on the court, but still manages score in the paint a lot. He showed he is able to score over bigger defenders with his soft floater, and high soft touch off the glass. I really liked his decision making in the tournament, and his shot selection. He did a good job knowing when to pass and when to be assertive. He is only going into his sophomore year, so he has plenty of more time to keep raising his stock.
Cedric Similien
Cedric Similien
Cedric is a really quick guard, with good explosiveness off the dribble. He is able strong and physical. In the tournament he was tough to stop when attacking down hill. He is able to finish through contact and over bigger defenders. On defense he is able to guard players bigger them him, because of his toughness and athleticism. Cedric is a college level player that will make what ever program he attends better
Liam is an unselfish pass first point guard. He make players around him better. In the tournament he made a bunch of nice on point passes to his teammates for layups, and open jump shots. He also made some nice passes up the floor to start fast breaks. He was often pressured by the defense, but did not panic or turn the ball over. He can also be a scorer, and hit outside shots as well. He had a few tough finishes through contact at the rim. Liam is a high level passer, with great court vision. Really a true point guard. On defense he was very active, and forced a number of turnovers from the weak side.

His performance got him interest from a number of division 1 schools, such as Boston University, Penn State, Albany , Wagner and more. He is a 6-6 strong point guard. He is a three level scorer, and can score from all areas of the floor. He can play above the rim, shoot the three, and score off the dribble. He is a high level playmaker. On defense is he is versatile and can guard multiple positions. In the tournament he averaged over 20 points per game. Clinton’s combination of size, skill, and strength, makes his game a good fit for the division 1 college level
