Hoops 4 Health 17U Plays Best Of Season in Win Over Athletes of Influence
The day opened up with a 78-52 victory for Hoops 4 Health over Athletes of Influence. It was the most impressive outing we have seen from Hoops 4 Health all spring or summer. They got a huge boost from New Trier 6’11” five man Tyler Van Gorp on the interior. The big man played with the most toughness on the boards we have seen which translated into double digit boards along with 14 points. He also swatted and altered several shots. Their backcourt trio had a big game. Jolliet West 2025 point guard Jeremiah Fears proved again why he is among the best young guards in the state posting 20 points against competition two years older. Put defenders in spin cycles and had deep range on his shot. Xavier Suliaman had 19 points in the victory mixing in threes and transition buckets. Liked what we saw from Sonny Williams as well pushing the pace in transition and using his athleticism at the rim.
For Athletes of Influence their backcourt carried them most of the game. DJ Moore is a smaller scoring guard at the point. Hit a few threes and was a decent passer. Josh Williams is a slashing guard that loves to get to the hoop off the bounce who dropped 21 points.
FIFA Elite 17U Shows Out in Win Against Wisconsin Crusaders
The squad from Louisiana brought their A game as FIFA Elite dominated a really good Wisconsin Crusaders team notching an 82-62 win. Jakobe Dykes put his name on the map for a lot of college coaches as a big and athletic scoring wing. He had 25 points in a win displaying a clean shot and explosive scoring moves off the bounce. His perimeter scoring buddy is 2024 Kohen Rowbatham. Strong bodied two guard that plays with physicality on drives, rebounds, and is a capable shooter who had 14 points. Ronneal Harold is a bouncy 6’7” four man that screams upside! He is a rim runner that throws down dunks, has a quick second jump, and protects the rim as he had 18 points.
Wisconsin Crusaders star two guard Levi Birkholtz didn’t have a huge scoring game only netting 8 points, but showed toughness and got to the line as it was clear FIFA was locked in on him. Solid passing. Caleb Glaser opened eyes as a 6’7” power forward that did his damage in the paint with mobile post moves as he had 12 points. Ethan Heck is a sharp shooting wing that can hit from three or mid-range. Dropped 16 points in the loss.
Full Package 17U Continues to Roll Along in 21 Point Win
Another game and another dominant performance from Full Package 17U as they won 62-41 over Minnesota Fury. As usual Jake Fiegen was the catalyst. The best shooter in Illinois was on point from three as usual hitting five triples in the win dropping an easy 20 points. Liked the toughness he showed on the glass and defended well. Full Package also got a big boost up front with the spot up shooting of Libertyville five man Aidyn Boone. The thick bodied post hit an array of threes, sealed, and finished well inside for 16 points.
Minnesota Fury combo guard Max Shikenjanski is a scorer with a bit of a funky release but it goes in as he hit a couple threes and banked in a mid-range jumper. Their lead guard Benjamin Kopetzki is a tough layup maker that had an array of nifty finishes along with three triples for 13 points.
PLUTO Records Comeback Win Behind Gophers Commit
It looked like this was EG10s game for most of it before recent Minnesota Gophers commit Kadyn Betts snatched it away winning 63-62 behind a dominant last 10 minutes. The versatile forward brings athleticism, handle, and shot making. When he was as aggressive as he was late scoring from all three levels he is unstoppable as he finished with 22 points with 20 of them in the second half. Joel Speckman was a face up forward that caught our attention as he was very effective using his long strides to put it on the deck and maneuver his body in the paint for scores. Unsigned senior that should be a priority JUCO or D2 prospect.
For EG10 as usual it was Ahmere Carson who had a big scoring outing as the big bodied combo guard used his body control around the rim to score along with threes and passing flair. He had 26 points in the contest. Devin Wood is a shifty lead guard that changes gears and has a sweet pull up game along with being able to get dribble penetration and make difficult shots as he had 12 points.
2024 Big Men Battle in National Name vs Illinois Sleeper
We caught the second half of this 16U contest that the LA Broncos took over EG10 63-62. Trey’Dez Green did what he does. The all-world dual sport athlete is a grown man inside snatching rebounds, throwing down dunks, and rebounding at a super high rate for the LA Broncos. Such an athletic freak! On the other side it was Urbana post Malcolm Morris who fought hard for position inside rebounding well on both ends and rim running with 15 points for EG10.
Iowa Barnstormers Wings Too Much for Oklahoma Impact 16U
Early on it looked like Oklahoma Impact might pull off the upset, but the Iowa Barnstormers stars stepped up to win 53-42. Caden Wilkins has high-major written all over him. Strong wing that can shoot it from distance, has strength/athleticism to convert at the rim, and is so competitive. He had 18 points. His running mate Kareem Earl showed a free and easy shooting stroke early and then played off his athleticism on both ends.
Oklahoma Impact had their own duo in Terrance Johnson and Rashaud Smith. Johnson had it rolling getting bucket after bucket whether it be a three or acrobatic layup. Smith was lethal in the mid-range where he pulled up over and over again.
New Names Emerge in Full Package Select vs IBA Illinois Stars Rogers 17U
This was a fun contest being able to find under the radar prospects in Illinois and we came away with quite a few in Full Package Select 17U’s 72-58 win. Early on it was the Josh Wolf show as the Glenbrook South wing was on fire from distance hitting three after three nailing five of them on his way to 19 points. At the point New Trier’s Tizoc Aquirre ran the show with his creative passing along with some tough finishes and a couple threes en route to 13 points. Colin McDonald from Loyola is a wing that gave them a huge spark raining in threes and being active around the hoop for 20 points.
IBA Illinois Stars Rogers had a pair of guards that made names. Will O’Shields is an athletic two guard who was slippery through traffic mixing in drives, deep pull up twos, and threes for 21 points. Kharon Cotton of Nazareth is a smooth scoring combo guard that won off the dribble and made athletic conversions at the cup. He had 16 points.
Team 1848 Blitzes Mac Irvin Fire 17U
This one wasn’t close from the very beginning as Team 1848 put on a clinic of passing in the half court and getting great looks in an 84-44 win over the Fire. Vincent Vandervest was outstanding for Team 1848 in the win. He drained mid-range jumpers, hit the offensive glass, got out in transition, and was constantly cutting for scores. Also a solid passer hitting teammates on the move. He had 16 points. Liked what we saw from Ethan Wal-atim inside as a thick bodied post that presents skill and touch.
St. Rita shooting guard Nashawn Holmes led the Mac Irvin Fire with 14 points. Strong and athletic wing that loves to slash to the hoop.
Iowa Barnstormers 17U Win Behind Bear and Balance Over Chicago Lockdown
The Iowa Barnstormers closed out the evening with a 61-46 W over Chicago Lockdown at the 17U level. In the second half it was the Dallas Bear show! Skilled face up four had it flowing from wherever he wanted it. Hook shots, pull up threes, and an array of mid-range jumpers. He went for 18 points. A player that we love to watch is Da’Shon Fisher. The strong bodied wing is always around the ball, defends all over the floor, and is a solid shooter as he had 13 points.
Chicago Lockdown was pushed by Marist combo guard Leirre Collier. He shot it consistently during the spring and was at it again on Friday night going for 20 points including six from beyond the arc.
