The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. For stop number 9 we head to Atlanta Georgia for our certified event. The event featured a variety of guys with the ability to get out, run the floor, and finish. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Wings from the event.
Hudson Vaith 6’5 SG Minnesota Heat 2023 – Vaith has been consistent every time I’ve seen him. There is absolutely nothing flashy about his game, but he’s very effective. He can get to the rack off the bounce, he’ll make an open 3 and he has the ability to finish out in transition. Those skills along with his production were enough to land him on this list.
Tyson Ruud 6’6 SF SSA 2023 – Ruud but on a show this week. When he wasn’t spending time hanging off the rim, he was defending, blocking shots, and scoring the ball off drives. He has a good frame, and his R&J athletic ability was evident. He used his leaping skills to grab rebounds on both backboards, and create some of the best highlights of the weekend.
Anquan Boldin Jr Anquan Boldin Jr 6'5" | CG IMG Academy | 2023 FL 6’4 SG Ball4lyfe 2023 – When I saw Boldin in Kansas City, his R&J skills were obvious. This week however he looked like a much improved all-around prospect. He not only made several jump shots but looked good in the process of doing it. His smooth stroke opened up the rest of his game, and he took advantage by getting to the rack and scoring. Perhaps his best skill was his competitiveness as he hit the game-winner in double OT, to help his squad get a win against a really good P.L.U.T.O team.
Adonis Lafleur 6’3 SG Chosen Few 2023 – Lafleur had a strong weekend for CS. He was able to run the floor and finish in transition to score, however his money came from behind the arc. The wing was accurate when he could get his feet set, and he spaced the floor at a high level for his club.
Marcus Northern 6’1 SG Team GR111 2023 – The first thing that stood out to me about Northern was his frame. His long arms, made him look taller than his 6’1 listed height. His play did the rest. Northern was a downhill terror, who showed the ability to attack the rim. His smooth game included getting out and finishing in transition, as well as using scoops to finish under the bigs.
Jalani Johnson 6’4 SG Flee Club 2023 – Johnson was one of the most dynamic scorers I saw during the weekend. The wing was accurate from behind the line and threatened to make my all-snipers team. His overall wing play was simply too strong to leave him off this list. Johnson used a quick first step, as well as some good 1 v 1 moves to create buckets for himself.
Xon Williams Xon Williams 6'2" | PG Millwood | 2024 State OK 6’2 SG Oklahoma Impact 2024 (featured image) – Keep an eye on Williams moving forward. He’s a kid that played JV as a sophomore but showed today that that is probably going to change. He did a little of everything for the Impact, however, I’m digging his competitive spirit. He used his 1 v 1 skills to seek out the tough shots for his team, making several game-tying or run-stopping plays in a thrilling contest against the LA Broncos.
Parker Bauman 6’4 SG BDH Elite 2023 – I’m starting to think Bauman has the best mid-range game in America. The throwback wing isn’t the flashiest player, but he’s efficient. He’s also productive. Bauman made the most of his shot opportunities this weekend, hitting pull-ups and baseline jumpers. His other special skill is his ability to get players involved and he did that at a high level, sometimes playing a point forward role while distributing to teammates.
