The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. For stop number 9 we head to Atlanta Georgia for our certified event. Several local players participated in the event. Let’s evaluate some of these performers.
Brian Kalb Brian Kalb 6'8" | PF St Pius | 2023 State NM 6’7 PF D1 New Mexico 2023 (featured image) – Starting to see Kalb as more of a skilled big. He’s 6’7 but seems to prefer to face up and slash to the bucket or knock down the 3. He shot the ball well, showing a smooth, consistent release. His question will be about his athleticism, however, he has decent feet, and is a fluid runner.
Anthony Alvarez Anthony Alvarez 6'0" | SG Santa Fe Capital | 2023 NM 6’1 PG D1 New Mexico 2022 – Alvarez’s strength is his defensive ability. He’s good defending on the ball, showing quick feet and active hands. He has a good upper frame, which allows him to absorb contact against taller players when they are driving to the basket. Offensively he has a quick first step which allows him to get to the rim. He will need to increase his three-point shooting consistency, however, he gets good lift on his shot, and is accurate from mid-range.
Devin Mabry Devin Mabry 6'6" | PF Spring Valley | 2023 State NV 6’6 PF Chosen Few 2023 – Mabry’s best strength is his athletic ability. He is an explosive first jumper, that has the ability to grab both out-of-area, and in-traffic rebounds. He also will contest shots and is good at just walling up and staying between the rim and the basket. His question is his 2nd jump quickness, however, he does get off the ground well, and can finish over the top of defenders.
Jake Bevacqua Jake Bevacqua 5'10" | PG The Meadows School | 2023 State NV 5’10 PG Chosen Few 2023 – Bevaqua’s offensive ability and IQ are his best skills. He plays with good pace, and always seems to have defenders off balance. He’s a good three-point shooter, but also understands how to use faints, and fakes to freeze defenders. His questions are size and athleticism, however, he possesses the maximum amount of skill for a player with those limitations.
Osvaldo Biebrich Osvaldo Biebrich 6'6" | C Desert Pines | 2023 State NV 6’5 C Chosen Few 2023 – Biebriech brings a physical precense. A strong rebounder and interior defender, he’s perfect as a secondary big. His question is on his ability to score the basketball on the offensive end, however his ability to get offensive rebounds is valuable and he can score off putbacks.
