Passion Region Finals: 15U Day 2 Standouts

<p>Generally, players are all warmed up and ready to compete by day 2 of a big tournament like the Passion Region Finals.  Day 2 action did not disappoint. A lot of 15u players made a name for themselves in a big way, now showing up on the radar of scouts looking for the undiscovered diamond in the rough or the next big thing. 15u is generally the year prospects start to separate themselves from the pack and show signs of who has the potential of playing at the next level. Here are my standouts for day 2. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>2025 6’3 Maki Joyner</strong><br /> <br /> Joyner is extremely developed for an underclassman and in my bold opinion one of the most complete players I watched in the 2025 division.  He could score at all levels opening the second game I watched with a dunk.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/Ga.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1514384" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/Ga-194x300.jpg" alt="" width="194" height="300" /></a></p> <p>Maki is hyper-athletic, quick with the ball, and boasts a high IQ for such a young player.  While getting to the basket seemed to be his preferred method of scoring, he hit a couple of spot-up 3s and showed his ability to create his own shot with a beautiful step-back 3.<br /> <br /> <strong>2025 5’7 Toby Lane</strong><br /> <br /> Toby Lane Is a master of disguise, when you see him warming up you’d never imagine how prolific and dominating this small guard can be. What he lacks in height he makes up for with heart and aggression. Lane controls the pace of the game on both ends of the floor. The 5’7 Guard attacked the basket with no fear, finishing layups that had the stands going nuts.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Toby-Lane.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1435585" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Toby-Lane-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>While he wasn’t incredibly quick with the ball, he’s extremely shifty. Defenders had a lot of trouble staying in front of him. His ability to dictate pace was exciting to watch.  Toby is a unique guard and one that ran his team’s offense with precision. He’s also a very capable mid-range and 3-point shooter. What surprised me the most is his ability to lock up much larger players resulting in a 5-second call on more than one occasion.<br /> <br /> <strong>2025 6’5 Jamar Browder</strong><br /> <br /> Browder was the lead rebounder and paint protector for this loaded 2025 Ball 4 Lyfe squad.  Already boasting great length for a rising sophomore, Jamar did a lot of things great.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Jamar-Browder1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1478827" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Jamar-Browder1-300x168.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="168" /></a></p> <p>After watching him play several times now, I see his jump shot evolving making the 6’5 prospect even more of a threat. He had 19 points in his last outing, pushing the ball in transition and attacking the rim without fear.<br /> <br /> <strong>2025 6’2 Levi Hubbard</strong><br /> <br /> Levi served as the Bad Boys primary offensive threat, relentlessly attacking the rim off the dribble.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Levi-Hubbard.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1478936" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Levi-Hubbard-300x168.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="168" /></a></p> <p>And while this was his primary avenue of scoring, he is able to knock down the 3 ball adding a pair of 3’s to the score sheet totaling his last outing I watched to 24 pts. Tough competitor that wants to win.<br /> <br /> <strong>2025 6’0 Torey Gilley</strong><br /> <br /> Torey came into this weekend mostly unknown to those outside of Manatee. Gilley changed that with some explosive performances, including a 31-point game. He’s a player ill be actively watching this season and expect his stock to rise.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/mustang.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1514395" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/07/mustang-229x300.jpg" alt="" width="229" height="300" /></a></p> <p>This guard has an extremely quick first step blowing by defenders and finishing at the rim even when the defense collapsed. Shot the 3 at a high percentage in clutch situations and had a nice mid-range.  The Mustang’s guard was one of the best scoring guards all weekend.</p>
