Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at the members of Team No. 8 from last weekend’s Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Small College Showcase, which was held in Columbia.
Matt Haefner Matt Haefner 6'7" | SF Lafayette | 2023 State MO (Lafayette): The 6’7 2023 small forward continued his excellent play this summer with another strong showing. His versatility and athleticism make him a definite matchup problem. He was shooting the 3-pointer well and attacking the rim very effectively. He is also a very good offensive rebounder.
Ahlante Askew (Republic): The 6’1 2023 point guard displayed his excellent two-way prowess during the weekend. He moves his feet well on defense and just wouldn’t let anyone beat him off the dribble. On offense, he was quick and accurate with his high arching 3-pointer.

(Ash Grove): I was excited to see this 6’3 2024 guard play in person for the first time and I was not disappointed. His all-around skill set was good as was his feel for the game. He had deep shooting range, nice handles and he can elevate on the pull up jumper..
Dalton Taylor (NE Cairo): A 6’2 2024 guard who looked very solid on the defensive end and with his overall floor game. He used his length to get deflections and strips. He also hit a number of Corner 3-pointers.
Rex Lyle (KC Lutheran): A 6’0 2024 guard who displayed some very good passing ability. He was able to thread the needle with some nifty dimes. He also had some quick hands on the defensive end.
Kane Stegeman (Highland): The 5’10” 2025 point guard was really looking to pass the ball and keep things flowing on offense. He was very unselfish as he passed up his own shot to get the ball to teammates with a better shot.
