The Las Vegas Big Time hosted by recruiting legend Gary Charles features teams from around the country and is a staple of The Summer Grassroots Basketball Season. The tournament, which runs from Wednesday, July 20th, until Sunday, July 24th, featured pool play on Thursday and Friday, with bracket play beginning on Saturday and a Champion crowned on Sunday. The event provided the perfect opportunity to evaluate a ton of local prospects. Here’s a look at some local evals.
Latavious Morris Latavious Morris 5'8" | PG Atrisco Heritage | 2025 State NM 5’8 PG ABC Spotlight 2025 (#4PHN 2025) – Morris can flat-out ball. His wiggle and handle are legit. He showed range on his jumper, elite blow-by ability, and a knack for scoring in conflict. Morris displayed the type of skill set indicative of successful small guards. He was terrific all week helping ABC to the Championship game of the 17U Diamond bracket.
"Joshua" "Jackson" 6’3 PF ABC Spotlight 2024 – Jackson is a rugged forward who brings toughness and rebounding. He’s strong for his position, so he was able to move taller players off their low post spot. He has nice form on his jumper and looks to have the ability to stretch the floor to about 18 feet.
Zane Gaul Zane Gaul 6'10" | C Prescott | 2025 State AZ 6’10 C D1 New Mexico 2025 (#8PHA 2025) – Gaul followed up a dominant weekend at the Hustle Region Finals, with a successful one in Vegas. He’s been playing with much more explosion, catching and finishing plays with dunks around the rim. He rebounded and did a good job of walling up against offensive rim attackers. Gaul helped D1 take home the championship of the 15U Diamond Bracket.
Caileb Parham Caileb Parham 6'2" | SG Eldorado | 2023 State NM 6’2 SG ABC Spotlight 2023 (featured image) – Parnham was one of the more consistent downhill attackers that I saw. He has a quick first step and a knack for getting to the bucket. He needs to improve his overall finishing rate, however, his aggressiveness and willingness to attack the basket, kept him in advantageous positions throughout the games I watched.
Daniel Steverson Daniel Steverson 6'2" | SG Cleveland | 2024 State #315 Nation NM 6’2 SG ABC Spotlight 2024 (#6PHNM 2024) – Steverson showed me a skill I was not familiar with. He’s a tremendous rebounder that used his long arms to grab a ton of in-traffic boards. In addition to mixing it up in the lane, he was able to go and grab a ton of out-of-area rebounds, scoring a ton of his points on offensive putbacks.
Tainui Taiaroa Tainui Taiaroa 6'6" | SF ABC Prep | 2023 State NM 6’6 SG ABC Spotlight 2023 – The last few times I’ve seen Taiaroa, he’s looked like a remarkably improved player. He played with terrific confidence this weekend. When he stays on balance, he is one of the best wing shooters in the state. His ability to put the ball on the ground and create for himself is also improved. Taiaroa is a sleeper prospect to keep an eye on.
Uriah Tenette Uriah Tenette 5'10" | PG Prescott | 2025 State AZ 5’7 PG D1 New Mexico 2025 – Tenennte is a one-man press breaker, played with good speed and quickness. He was able to break down defenders and create for teammates. Behind the crafty PG’s skill and leadership, D1 took home the 15U Diamond Bracket crown.
