I spent about 12 hours in a gym today bouncing between Turnstone and Sport One checking out as many Indiana-based teams and prospects as I could. We are less than 24 hours away from the last live period of the summer coming to a close so this will be the final opportunity to see guys play for a little while. While trying to be as efficient as possible, seeing as many games as possible, here are some of the top individual performances I witnessed throughout the day on Saturday.
Aidan Franks Aidan Franks 6'2" | SG Wapahani | 2023 State IN (Wapahani H.S. 2023/Indy Heat Red 17u): It is a back-to-back appearance on the top performers list for Franks up in Fort Wayne. The 6’2″ guard has really turned some heads over the weekend with his strong play. Franks put up 20 points on Saturday morning in a win for Indy Heat Red 17u showing off his highly skilled game and sneaky athleticism. Really well-rounded offensive talent.
Taray Howell Taray Howell 5'8" | PG Evansville Bosse | 2024 State IN (Evansville Bosse H.S. 2024/Indy Heat Red 16u): Howell was the leading scorer for Indy Heat Red 16u in their morning win and more than held his own against a super talented Ohio Buckets-Garcia team in the afternoon. The shifty 5’8″ point guard can create for himself and others at a high level off of the dribble. He’s also an excellent on-ball defender. It was a great Saturday for Howell.
Jevon Lewis Jevon Lewis 5'9" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2024 State IN (Fort Wayne Wayne H.S. 2024/OPS-Black 16u): This 5’9″ point guard went off for 25 points on Saturday afternoon for OPS-Black, but came up just a bit short against a very good Indiana Elite Team Indiana squad. Lewis, a left-hander, can make tough shots beyond the arc off of the ballscreen, creates for himself well when attacking the basket, and has good ability off the ball as a catch-and-shoot threat.
Taden Metzger Taden Metzger 6'3" | SG Fishers | 2024 State IN (Fishers H.S. 2024/Indiana Elite Team Indiana 16u): There aren’t many shooters in the state of Indiana with the accuracy of Metzger. When he is open he simply does not miss very often. Metzger moves well off of the ball, has solid size and strength on the perimeter, and has a quick trigger when the ball hits his hands. Led Team Indiana in scoring in their hard-fought victory over OPS-Black.
Jaxon Pardon Jaxon Pardon 6'4" | SG Fort Wayne Carroll | 2024 State IN (Fort Wayne Carroll H.S. 2024/Ohio Buckets-Garcia 16u): Pardon put up 22 points in their third blowout victory in as many tries at the GRBA National Championship on Saturday morning. Then, he followed it up with another strong performance in the afternoon in a win over Indy Heat Red. The 6’4″ lefty has excellent perimeter skill and the size to take it at smaller defenders around the basket. High basketball IQ. In-state college coaches were out in full force watching his games on Saturday.
Gavin Wisley Gavin Wisley 6'8" | PF Bloomington South | 2023 State IN (Bloomington H.S. South 2023/Indiana Elite Central 17u): After knocking in five three-pointers in the second half alone, six total for the game, Wisley finished with a game high 20 points in Indiana Elite Central’s afternoon win over 5Star. The 6’8″ forward can flat out stroke it from beyond the arc.
