Believe it or not, the first live recruiting period of July has now come and gone with just one more chance for Division I coaches to hit the road coming later this month. Here are six prospects from Indiana who had great weekends at their respective events and should see a bump in their recruitment heading until the final live period later this month.
Shaun Arnold Shaun Arnold 6'5" | PF Ben Davis | 2023 State IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2023/EG10 17u): A massive rebounding performance on Saturday at Prep Hoops Live Atlanta caught a lot of attention online, but the 6’5″ forward was excellent throughout the weekend for EG10. Arnold plays with a non-stop motor, is an elite rebounder for his size, and has some athletic tools to utilize offensively. Versatile defender. Will make a small college coach very happy.
Casey Kaelin Casey Kaelin 6'2" | SG Providence | 2023 State IN (Providence H.S. 2023/Southern Indiana Blaze 17u): Southern Indiana Blaze went 4-2 at Best of the South over the weekend and Kaelin was a big reason for their success. The 6’3″ guard averaged 19 points per game and knocked down 18 three-pointers in his six games. His three-point shooting has really added an intriguing element to his game since the high school season.
Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN (Southport H.S. 2023/George Hill All Indy 17u): The George Hill All Indy 17u prospects are all pretty well known at this point and had a successful showing at Best of the South advancing to the Final Four. However, I thought it was an especially good few days for 6’6″ forward Nickens Lemba Nickens Lemba 6'6" | PF Southport | 2023 State IN . He has all of the physical tools you could possibly ask for, but also showed his defensive and rebounding skills at a high level.
Marcus Northern Marcus Northern 6'2" | PG South Bend Washington | 2023 State IN (South Bend Washington H.S. 2023/Team GRIII Elite 17u): He may not be the highest profile prospect on Team GRIII, but Northern is part of the glue that holds the team together. The 6’1″ guard is a two-way contributor as a very good on-ball defender and facilitator offensively. Finished the weekend at Prep Hoops Live Atlanta by putting up 14 points in a win. Good small college prospect.
Preston Roberts Preston Roberts 6'5" | SF Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite Black 17u): Roberts quickly got some headlines at Best of the South with a 24-point performance. The 6’5″ athletic wing/forward was excellent driving to the basket, dominated in transition, and showed off his wide array of skills. He is a better passer and creator than he gets credit for, plays very hard, and will help rebound the ball. His recruitment could really take off still this month.
Alex Romack Alex Romack 6'6" | PF Westfield | 2023 State IN (Westfield H.S. 2023/Grand Park Premier 17u): Romack has been really, really impressive this summer. After a great June taking on a much larger role with Westfield after graduating a pair of Division I guards, the 6’6″ moved up to the UAA Circuit for July with Grand Park Premier and more than held his own. He has been generating interest from a variety of different levels and likely won’t have to wait long to receive his first scholarship offer.
