Continue ReadingNebraska is usually known for having a state full of talented guards. Lately, I’ve noticed that just having guards isn’t the case anymore. You can now find a forward in the “Good Life” state that can compete not only to be the best in the state but one of the best in the country. Below I’ve listed a few forwards that I have recently seen with that potential.
A’mare Bynum | Omaha Bryan Bears | 6’7″ | Forward | Sophomore | AAU : Mokan Elite
A’mare is only a sophomore. Super athletic forward that has been groomed for showtime. His father (Omar Bynum) was a division 1 recruit out of Omaha North who played for the Iowa State Cyclones. You can easily see that his father’s skills have been instilled inside of A’mare. He’s able to rebound and kick out or push it up the floor. Great ball handling for a big. I’ve witnessed A’mare jab step, drive baseline and finish with a tomahawk jam! It made everyone jump up out of their seat. Bynum plays within the flow of the offense and is not a selfish player. He swings the ball around the perimeter and usually attacks at the right time. Stay tuned.
Treyson Anderson Treyson Anderson 6'9" | C Pius X | 2024 State NE | Lincoln Pius X Thunderbolts | 6’9″ | Forward | Junior | AAU : NBDA 16U
Treyson has the size, the talent, and the opportunity to be great. A force down low in the paint and a threat on the perimeter. After heating up from downtown, he’ll use his pump fake to drive by defenders and finish at the basket. Anderson also has a nice one-dribble floater from the short corner. Excellent shot blocker and strong rebounder as well. Treyson is receiving attention from a few Division 1 colleges. It’s best you offer him while you can.
Jeff Rozelle Jeff Rozelle 6'6" | SF Gretna | 2023 State NE | Gretna Dragons | 6’6″ | Forward | Senior | AAU : OSA 17U Adidas Gold
Jeff is a great all-around player with a solid skill set. Rozelle can defend guards or bigs, he can shoot the three, and is also productive with his back against the basket. He can drive to the basket for lay-ups/dunks. Good rebounder and shot-blocker. I was left super impressed with his attitude and demeanor on and off the court. Jeff is the type of player who could fill up the stat sheet in every category.
Will Cooper Will Cooper 6'6" | SF Millard South | 2024 State NE | Millard South Patriots | 6’6″ | Forward | Junior | Nebraska Supreme 16U UAA
Will is the type of player that can score 40 points all within the flow of the offense. Fearless competitor. Every time I’ve witnessed Cooper play he’s been the best player on the court or second best. He’s gotten even better over the summer too, playing against some of the top talents in the country. Doesn’t matter where he is at or who is on the court, he will impress you. Excellent range on his jump shot from anywhere on the court, strong defender, and plays the game with high energy.
Mekhi Marks Mekhi Marks 6'2" | SF Omaha Northwest | 2023 State NE Omaha Northwest Huskies | 6’3″ | Small Forward | Senior | AAU: EYCE Elite 17U Green
Marks is a senior star with tons of upside. He can shoot from long or midrange, he can finish at or above the rim, and he can also play guard if you need him to. He averages double digits for a program that is very tough to play for so that speaks for itself. If you surround Mekhi with equal talent it opens his game up and it allows him to be even more dangerous. He has a great attitude and is very coachable. Definitely, the type of player you would want on your team.
