is one of those dudes that will be even better when he plays with better players. He makes passes to where guys should be. He sees the game at a high speed. Building off of that ‘plays well fast’, Smith reminds of a young John Wall in that he is just a little faster than everybody else, even with the basketball in his hands. Unlike the hurried, young guards nationwide, Smith is calculating and slicing up the defense simultaneously. He is not going to rush into a trap or fumble the basketball when defenders meet him under the rim. Smith showed an eagerness to beat everybody to the baseline and just drop it off to a now-open big instead of trying a challenged layup. High basketball maturity coupled with a unique, marketable skill set. The next area for advancement with Smith will be his on-ball defense. Smith was a quiet defender Saturday. He planted his feet, got low, and waited. No gambling. Smith looked to have longer arms than most guards his size, which he used to encourage Colby White to dump off a pass mid-air instead of essentially shoot into Smith’s high, denying hand. Colby raised to shoot a jumper and found a hand right in his perceived shooting pathway. Smith did a serviceable job on one of the best dribbling and driving guards in Tennessee

too. He can do more over time, but Smith looks to be capable of thriving as a two-way player.

has an uncanny ability to contort his body and react in real-time to unpredictable passes or errant caroms. His game will mature nicely and the gap between where he is now and where he could be is greater than most high school upperclassmen. Powell is a nightmare in the open floor. If he gets a step bursting up the floor, forget it. He showed off quick rise and an elegance mid-air.

can do a lot of things. His toughness is emblematic of a player that grew up playing against big, bad dudes either in the gym or at the park. He is unafraid of contact and shrugs away those pesky reaches or bumps that can deter most prep players.
Stephen is maybe the quickest off his feet in the entire state. Exceptional shot-blocking instincts.
Jack Shackelford Jack Shackelford 6'7" | PF Bartlett | 2024 State TN drew many fouls. He made many free throws. He could become a fantastic and-1 guy with a little more power. Aggressive offensively. Looks to be a scorer at the next level. What level? TBD. He knows how to use his feet . Did a great job with that stab-and-go move.

. Obviously tall talented players are worth third and fourth looks thanks to their scarcity alone. And yet Hall is more than a big guy with long arms. Hall showed an unselfishness in a game littered with gregarious, shot-first guards. He went out of his way to set high screens despite the infrequency of touches those screens netted him. Hall ran the floor well, but did not often get rewarded. The point stands…he can run the floor and be available. Hall’s hands looked quick and disruptive. Even though he is going to block a ton of shots at the high school level, he did not jump every time or bite on every pump fake or shot. His patience under the rim looked like a decision more than an accident. Hall made a sharp kick-out pass after receiving a post feed. He changed the point of attack immediately and rewarded

with a wide-open three-point attempt. A willingness to serve his team appeared to be embedded in Hall’s game.
