Standout Performers
Exposure is hard to come for some. No matter how hard they play, or win, players and organizations seem to get overlooked. The goal in the BBSS Live Period Extravaganza is to high light the overlooked. Bring light to the hard worker and to present to you talent that you may not have heard of or seen before. The BBSS Live Period Extravaganza held its combine where many athletes came to showcase their skills and heart. Starting with the boys division these are my standout performers.
2024 | G | Jamarian Harper| Fort Worth Young Warriors
Harper was a joy to watch on both ends of the floor. On defense he was in the passing lanes using the correct hand to deflect passes. He was always in the right spots defensively and he took every defensive matchup to personal. Harper offensively scored at will with a barrage of moves going to his left and right. Impressive enough Harper showed off an incredible handle that got him to whatever spots he wanted to get to on the floor. Pull up jumper going right he got to his spot and nailed it! Pull up jumper going to his left same result! Harper penetrated the defense and got his team whatever shot that needed and wanted. In the Top 20 All-Star Game Harper hit the tying three pointer to keep his team in the game. They would eventually fall at the buzzer to the number two ranked player on this list. Harper showed why he was voted by the coaches and evaluators present as the “Best Player” in the building finishing the All-Star game with 40 points and MVP honors.
2022 | G | Jordan Moreno | BBSS NATIONAL
Moreno came in the building with one thing on his mind. To show everyone that he is the best. Moreno came out shooting the ball with high level efficiency. Starting the All-Star game with three straight triples. He showed off his ability to get it done catching and shooting as well as off the bounce. Moreno has a free-flowing jump shot that is ready for the collegiate level. He made sound decisions all day that led to him hitting the game winning three for his team to take the All-Star game victory. Moreno throughout the combine showed off his leadership. He was vocal during misses and makes for his teammates. During the All-Star game he made his presence felt which is why he comes in at number two on our list of stand-out performers.
2022 | G | Kole Verdadero | BBSS NATIONAL
Verdadero played great all day. He showed off his ability to be ready to catch and shoot but also play defense at a high level. For stretches in each game Verdadero showed why colleges are interested in skill set. Verdadero displayed and great handle and his ability to create offense in transition for his teammates after he secured the rebound. At 6’5 Verdadero is a big guard, and he makes sure to let smaller guards know as he uses his size to shoot over the smaller guards. When matched up with Bigs Verdadero drove by them with ease to create a shot for himself or one of his teammates.
2024 | G | Jaymarion Stewart Jaymarion Stewart 6'4" | SF Euless Trinity | 2024 TX | Fort Worth Young Warriors
Steward was a bull with the basketball in his hands. I love the way he attacked with power and aggression. Every time the basketball was in Stewart’s hand’s he had a made-up mind to make something happen. No one attacked the rim as ferociously as Stewart did. In the open court Stewart could not be contained or stopped finishing at the rim with either hand. As tenacious as steward was on offense he played with that same tenacity on defense. Getting steal after steal, deflection after deflection leading to multiple scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates.
2026 | G | Nash Pena | Brewer High School
Pena impressed me with his overall play. One of the youngest in the group that was out there. Pena had game like some of the older players hooping out there. Pena showed off an extreme skill set. He put the ball on the floor on numerous tough drives finishing at the rim. He shot the ball like a marksman from deep. Pena arrival into the building was the beginning of what I knew would be a great day for him. He has the, it factor when it comes to his game. He was never too high or too low. He got the job done.
Part II of my list will follow. Stay Tuned.
