Jackson Bartley, NY Select, Class 2023, Position CG, HT 6’0
Jackson is a combo guard, who can run the point, or play off the ball. Yesterday he had a standout game. He finished the game with 28 points, and went 3-4 from three point range. He also was able to get a bunch of layups at the rim, and did a good job finishing, and scoring in transition. Jackson is strong going to the basket, has good handles, and is a good spot up shooter. Jackson has been talking to coaches at all three divisions. He has potential to play at the division 2 or division 1 level, and also could be a very good division 3 player.
Javid Charles, NY Select, HT 6’2, Class 2023, Position Point Forward
Javid is a versatile player, who plays point forward. He can handle the ball well, and be a playmaker. He had a standout game this weekend, and made a lot of nice plays. You can tell from watching him play he has a good understanding, and a high basketball IQ. He was very aggressive on the boards this weekend, and boxed out hard. He has been improving his shot, and that will make his a a threat to score from all areas. One nice play from the weekend was, when he got the ball at the top of the perimeter, and made a great on point pass to his teammate, a baseline cutting shooting guard. Javid I think will be a solid division 3 college player.
Merlin Gogolin, Pro Level Titans, HT 6’7, Position Wing/F/G, Class 2023
Merlin had a standout week at the Hoopfest. He played in the final game of the tournament on Sunday, and he stood out. He can play guard or the small forward position, and he has good length. He is 6’7 and is a pure shooter. He had 4 three pointers in the game, and showed his nice stroke from three. He also was able to get to the rim, and attack the defender when they closed out hard. One play the defender denied him the ball, and he made a nice backdoor cut for a layup.
Ryan Jackson, Pro Level Titans, Class 2024, HT 5’10, Position PG
Ryan might not be the biggest player on the floor, but that doesn’t faze him. In the game I saw he showed his long range shooting ability, hitting multiple three pointers. He scored shooting off the dribble, and spotting up. Defenders are forced to play right up on him. He is a crafty skilled guard, and does a great job creating separation. He was able to get in the lane, and when the defense collapsed, he did a good job making a jump stop in the paint, and finding the open teammate. He also was good at initiating the fast break, and passing the ball up the floor.
Peyton Smith, Team Swish, HT 6’8, Position PF
The big man Peyton Smith had a strong performance in the game I saw. He is a paint protector on defense, and has good post skills. He was able to finish down low in multiple ways. He was strong with the ball and was able to finish with contact. He could back people down in post, use a drop step move, use his soft hook shot, and his good ball fakes. He got good positioning in the post, and was in good spots for his teammates to make an entry pass. Last season high school season, Peyton was the league MVP. He has a division 1 offer from Albany.
