Each one of these prospects brings something different to the table when it comes to being recruited at the next level. There was a lot of quality bigs in attendance and here are a few that stood out.
6’9 PF Lyman Simmons Lyman Simmons 6'10" | PF RSL Academy | 2023 State UT || Snow Canyon High School || 2023 ||
Lyman was dominant on the blocks this past weekend. When he would start on one end of the floor and cut to the basket and end up on the other side of the blocks and would get position deep in the post and the ball would move from one side to the other before the defense could establish itself Lyman was nearly impossible to defend and it dod not allow the defense to collapse. One on one Lyman usually has a longer reach and he is quick with his moves. Although his moves are still a bit slow in developing it leaves more growth to his game. When he gets quicker with his moves and with his finishes he is going to be a problem at the next level as well because he does have some LM Division 1 potential written all over him. His best move that was displayed was his over the shoulder hooks that are just nearly impossible to contest.
6’7 SF Ethan Stoddard || Utah Hype || 2022 ||
Ethan is a hybrid player that can step out and hurt you in the perimeter. He looked agile and quick laterally as he was defending at a high level multiple positions. Ethan has a nice back to the basket game as he can back down players till he gets comfortable in a spot to score the ball, whith that said he has an elite mid-post game. We were also able to see him catch the ball in the post and turn and face and use his quickness against bigger slower defenders. When he does not have the ball he positions himself well to get 0-Boards and get those back up and convert. Steps out and shoots so he is a must defend player at all times.
6’7 PF Isaac Davis || Hillcrest High School (ID) || 2024 ||
Isaac was one of the most dominating and forceful players we saw as he is just built a little different than most 2024 prospects. Issac is not just dominating in the post he is also stepping out and running the offense as he is used to release pressure. Isaac can catch and rip at the top of the key and turn and go. Once he gets the ball on the post he is quicker than you might think and he is extremely explosive. His game has been apparent and he has been promoted to play on the 17U Utah Prospects team this summer. He should be able to help himself in the recruiting area as he has recently recieeved an offer from Washington State University.
6’9 C Abraham Oyeadier || Balboa Prep || 2024 ||
Coming into the showcase we knew that Abraham was going to be a force but his motor and athleticism did pop even more than you see on film. He is not only active on the post he is very voal and he is strong as he can finish through contact and he is learning how to beat the double team and re-post. We saw him hold his post a bit too long at times but you can see that he is still raw and learning the game. He has received interest from a variety of D1’s since they were able to start contacting 2024’s yesterday. This kid has a nice game that can still develop.
6’10 C Kean Webb Kean Webb 6'10" | C American Fork | 2023 State UT || American Fork High School || 2023 ||
Kean started off his high school career as a lean big that was solid from the outside and would sometimes use his post presence. Fat forward 3 years and he is a lot bigger and stronger and he is using his entire game to get the better of any matchup he has. in the post this weekend he used his skills to get buckets but also showcased his vision and willingness to pass and get the ball to the right player instead of forcing any action. Kean is a high IQ player that makes the right read on the blocks and he has length to finish.
