SubscribeOne of the top teams we are looking forward to seeing at the Prep Hoops National Championship in the 13U age group is Buchanan’s Performance Academy led by Antonio Buchanan. This group participated in two PHN events earlier on in the year and are looking to cap off a successful season in Kansas City says Antonio…
“We expect to continue to have good competition and some decent bonding time as that is always important during a big national tournament like this. I really want our team to keep doing the same thing we have been doing. I hold my team to certain standards so I expect those standards to be met.”
Buchanan has enjoyed participating on the Prep Hoops Next Circuit which is a reason why they decided to play in Kansas City to try and win a national championship.
“Our stops on the circuit were pretty cool. We had some decent competition and we faced a little adversity which is always good. All of the venues were pretty nice and they were nice courts. We have been having a good time and we look forward to capping it off at the National Championship.”
In order to win the national championship, Buchanan talked about three players that will be crucial for them.
Jamal Holden: “Jamal is our center and leads our team in scoring. He is our anchor standing at 6’3 and is a dominant forward. He can knock it down from midrange, he can block shots at a very high rate and good footwork for a 13 year old kid. He is going to be a really special kid.”
Ian James: “Ian is our point guard and he controls our team very well as he is a true point guard. He is a kid that will be on the floor the entire game because he controls so much offensively and defensively for us. He is a small scrappy guard and does a good job of making plays for others, he is our motor and engine that makes us go.”
Kam Blackmon: “He is our do it all guy standing at 6’1. He can impact the game without even scoring, he can guard the one through the five and he is our energy guy. He really just does it all for us.”
Buchanan knows he will need these three guys in order to advance where they want to go but there are two other things that are very important to him.
“Discipline and toughness are the two most important things for us. Those two things are going to be super important for us. We have to be tough. We want to go out there and beat some of the teams that beat us earlier in the year.”
