Player Rankings Update: 2024 New Additions Pt. 1

No. 16 – 6-3 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1409988" first="Larry" last="Johnson"] – Beach
Multiple D-I programs have offered [player_tooltip player_id="1409988" first="Larry" last="Johnson"] including Oregon and St. John’s. Johnson broke out this past season, helping Beach to a Final Four berth in Class 3A. Johnson averaged 16.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals. Johnson is a smooth athlete that creates off the bounce. He loves to get to the rim and can finish in highlight fashion. His size and instincts on defense help separate him from other guards. He’s a monster stock riser over the past 12 months and is now a nationwide known name.

No. 35 – 6-7 PF [player_tooltip player_id="1442610" first="Walter" last="Matthews"] – Hiram
Listed at 6-foot-7, 245-pounds, [player_tooltip player_id="1442610" first="Walter" last="Matthews"] is a four-star tight end that can also dominate on the hardwood. His size and physicality are hard to handle as he gobbles up rebounds and throws down dunks any time he gets the chance. Matthews is a bruising double-double who has caught eyes this offseason.

No. 75 – 5-9 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1444773" first="Taison" last="Mathis"] – Miller Grove
[player_tooltip player_id="1444773" first="Taison" last="Mathis"] impressed me multiple times this spring. His quickness and ability to create off the dribble are consistent facets of his game. Mathis scores with either hand inside and does a great job of stopping on a dime when getting to his spots in the mid-range. He’s a well-rounded scorer that plays with pace and also sees the floor well.

No. 78 – 6-9 PF [player_tooltip player_id="1453932" first="Adonai" last="Mussie"] – Parkview
Great size and length, [player_tooltip player_id="1453932" first="Adonai" last="Mussie"] is an impactful rim protector that can run the floor and clean up misses. Mussie is a good passer out of the post and he has a long hook shot that can be indefensible.

No. 79 – 6-4 PF [player_tooltip player_id="1444772" first="Jordan" last="Howe"] – Harrison
Howe is a power-packed forward that overwhelms most with his strength. He’s got quality footwork down low and is a double-double machine with his rebounding. Howe is built like an SEC linebacker, but his passion lies in basketball. He has had a great spring playing 17U with NME.
